I'm semi-retired and have a very flexible schedule. I'm in the North Metro but I occasionally drive for Lyft, so I'm familiar with the Twin Cities in general. I'm an early riser so if your dog is as well - that's fine with me!

The dogs I've cared for get several walks per day - or ball tosses if there is a fenced in yard. For those dogs who get along with others, we love the dog park. We make sure to go potty before bedtime! My dogs get two meals per day - but if yours get three meals, that's fine too. I've taken care of dogs who need daily pills and those which are in heat. I don't need much when staying at your home other than internet. I bring my own food. I prefer longer stays rather than short ones so I can learn the dog's routine.
Information Christine J. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know your dog's habits so I can be consistent with what you normally do. Does your dog sleep at night in a kennel or with you in bed? Does your dog protect his/her food? Is your dog reactive to other dogs?
A typical day
Walks are great for mental stimulation - all those smells! For exercise, I am a ball thrower but will also engage of tug of war. I like to do what the dog likes to do. One dog I sit for will play fetch with a ball for literally hours. Another dog will fetch 3 times and call it quits. What I do with your dog depends on your dog.

Grandma gives great care
Pet care experience
I've been a dog owner for 40 years, and was a foster for a few years for MARS. Although I specialize in German Shepherds, I have taken care of just about every type of dog. My housemate, where I currently live, has 2 rescues - one is a lab/Pitbull mix. The other is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. I also dog sit regularly for my daughter's dog (rescue Pitbull mix) and my son's dog (Belgian Malinois). If I have a special skill I guess it would be that I understand rescues.

Reviews

Christine is a great caregiver! My dog & cats were given excellent care. She stayed a week and kept in touch so I knew how they were all doing. I came home to very happy, relaxed pets because Christine was so good to them. She fed, walked, administered medication and even cleaned up after them.
Christine did a fabulous job taking care of our dog! She sent a message and photo each day we were gone. We have a dog who has many fears, particularly concerning storms and loud noises. In addition, we had just lost our older dog whom Freckles looked up to for guidance and support. We were thrilled that Christine was able to help our dog stay calm through a thunderstorm and brainstormed ways to keep her manage the fear. Our dog was still very sad about losing her sister and Christine was very empathetic, keeping her company. We highly recommend her as a dog sitter and would be happy to use her again.
I have used Christine to take care of my pets over the last 20 years. We had quite a menagerie over the years. Undaunted she tackled dogs, cats, hamsters and one crabby bird. Very reliable person.
I have known Chris Jones for many years. She has always had dogs in her life. She has owned many wonderful dogs and fostered others for MARS. She has both walked and sat my dogs and they love her. She focuses on their comfort and individual needs which I appreciate greatly and I will use Chris again.
