Come. Stay. Play!

Pet care experience

I have cared for small dogs, cats (At this time, I currently do not charge owners with caged pets if they already own a dog/cats). such as hamsters, guinea pigs and turtles since middle school. In the beginning I practically wouldn't charge anything because of my love of animals and anyone that cares to own such living creatures...they are not only interesting but I think they are better than even having a brother/sister. F.Y.I. I am sorry I don't have pictures from over the past when I used to service pets from before. This is my first time getting back into this since I've lived here in the bay area. Most of my past experience was over the years when I used to live outside of California, however, I would use my past experience with your own animal/pet unless you are wanting/needing specific care. Thank you! As of now, I am currently getting ready to go back to City College online (remotely) part time while balancing another project part time. In the future I do plan on going into Small business as of now just going to College part time so I can work as a freelance writer. One of the topics I do plan on writing about are animals. So this is why my availability is mostly open to one household at a time catering to mostly boarding dogs/cats here at my place. Thank you. MANDATORY: FACE MASK AND GLOVES WILL BE IN PLACE DUE TO COVID-19!!! (If you want me to where a shield as well, I can wear one of those for you as well). If you were to have me come by your place rather if it was drop in or just for a long walk in a park or play with your dog/cat outside your pet will be just as honored like if it was our own pet. If your pet is on a strict schedule for eating and/or diets please let me know and I will only touch the spots and areas of your home needed pertaining to your pet. When I used to have a dog the only thing I loved to strictly avoid myself when it came to dog walking was taking the dog for a walk when my mail man was expected to arrive down the street for example, any questions or concerns I am here for you. I also please ask if I could meet and greet with you and the potential pet(s) that I'd care for or walk. I am always honest so I ask that you be honest as well, I cannot and will not board dogs that are highly capable of barking constantly and very loud and/or pet owner's lying about how well they are trained, especially with the potty training. Depending on damage or damages to pee in my residence you will be charged extra. Thank you

Christine was great with Frida! She was a very good communicator and took lots of pics and sent updates. She was understanding when our plane was delayed and we were later picking up Frida. Frida enjoyed her time with Christine and we are excited to see her again!

I didn’t have the best experience with Christine, but I believe that is mainly because my cat is not compatible with her sitting style. This was my first time using a cat sitter since I adopted my (adult) cat a few months ago. My cat Cheese and I have a very strong bond/relationship so for the most part, he is extremely tolerant of me doing things that he doesn’t necessarily like, such as putting him into his carrier and touching his neck when I apply his monthly flea medication. However, because I have never hired a cat sitter before nor have I really had other people have to do similar things for Cheese, I was unaware that he only lets me, as his owner/cat mom, do those. At the end of our booking, when Christine tried to put Cheese back into his carrier, he hid under the bed and refused to come out. I was unaware this would happen because as I stated earlier, he has never done this with me before. I assume this happened because he was in a pretty new and unfamiliar environment and was scared. The times that he did come out from under the bed, he would run very fast and be extremely difficult to catch, from Christine’s description. However, Christine does not allow clients into her apartment, so I was unable to help her put Cheese inside his carrier. Unfortunately, trying to take Cheese home became a stressful ordeal for everybody involved until Christine and I had no choice but to try trapping my cat using a cat trapper. Luckily, this worked and I was able to take Cheese back home. As stressful as the situation was, the actual booking (I booked the stay from November 23-26) went smoothly. She was communicative (she sent me pictures of Cheese multiple times a day without me even having to ask and would let me know every time she fed him, usually sending a picture of him eating, which I’m sure any pet owner would appreciate) and Cheese seemed pretty comfortable during the stay. When it was time to trap my cat, she did a good job setting it up and keeping me updated almost hourly as to whether or not he had gone into the cage yet. As soon as he had, she let me know and I was able to get him home very quickly after that. While Christine overall did a good job taking care of my cat during the booking, the main issue was compatibility, which was not her fault. I think that in order to have a successful booking with her, you MUST be well aware of and extremely familiar with how your cat feels about other people handling them. I did not know Cheese would be so scared and intolerant of being handled by people that are not his owner. I made this mistake and I do not want anybody to go through what I did. If your cat is especially timid and tends to hide when he feels scared/threatened, I recommend looking for another sitter. Or, if like me, you’ve only had your cat for a few months and are unsure of how your cat would react to being handled by a new person, look for another sitter. Because she is not comfortable allowing clients into her apartment under any circumstance, you will not be able to help her handle your cat if necessary, and the situation would be much more stressful than necessary for everybody involved.

I have a very decent sized front yard that is fenced. Although I am currently working on moving I will make sure I am particular about the layout of the yard so it can accommodate to any potential future Rover pets/animals that I sit for so options could stay open for playing inside or outside just as equally. I will always make sure that your pet/animal comes back to you safe and out of harms way. I ask that you be fully honest with me. I cannot accept anymore last minute bookings because I did this with a client before and he was not completely honest about his dog and it went bad and I had another case where a set of parents had a daughter deal with me and she was not completely open during our meet and greet and all her answers were I didn't know....my first time and also than find herself stating everything was my fault over a cat when it was time for it to go home. I don't state in meet in greets because I don't find it necessary in a conversation but since the couples daughter complained about it if you have a pet that is fairly new to your home and at full size/no longer a growing dog or cat, I wouldn't recommend you leaving it with me or probably any other sitter because that person did not have that much bond with their own pet and didn't know it would be complicated to get their own pet to go back home. I do not let people into my bedroom and so it was a problem that she could not go into my bedroom and call the pets name. I allow to go to the entrance in which she was able to do and when that person called their own pets name, it ran, but I do not allow pet owner's in my bedroom so if you have to go into my bedroom this is not the place for you to leave your pet period for me to sit. I just want to throw this in here since it became a problem. Thanks

Information Christine J. would like to know about your pet

Let me know ahead of time if your dog has any special needs (requires a certain amount of special attention and/or prefers not to really be around others), special diets, what they can't tolerate. Vision, meds and/or if they get too wild/cranky when it comes to taking any meds? Level and loudness of barking because I can't have constantly/loud barking in my place of residence and honesty on the potty training please....

A typical day

I love to take dogs on a walk on a park (bigger the better) can go for a jog together even or even play ball or frisbee (those are my most favorite games...lol). Does your pet love special tricks? ..Why not join :) *I would also like to mention for my set price of pet dog and cat owners for overnight stay and/or drop by the price is $65/a night for one dog. -Thanks
