Animal Lover - Eager to help

I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember! We always had dogs in the home when I was growing up - whether it was dogs I was pet sitting, our own dog, or fosters. I've always enjoyed both caring for and training dogs and my love of animals led me to pursue a B.S. in Animal Sciences from Virginia Tech (go hokies)! I've worked with and cared for animals of all kinds ...

What Christine would like to know about your dog

I love dogs of every shape and size! It can be helpful to know about any behavior quirks and/or fears your dog(s) might have. Does your dog have any allergies or are they only allowed treats with specific ingredients? It's also helpful for me to know what commands or cues you use so that I can be consistent.

I am very comfortable giving oral medications. I am also not squeamish and I have given some shots/injections before. If your dog has medication that needs to be injected and you are comfortable showing me how, then I would consider administering injected medication.

Oral Medication Administration
Special Needs Dog Experience

When Christine watches your pet

I currently offer dog-walking and drop-in visits (I'm open to house sitting/overnights on a case by case basis.

Dog walking bookings include a 30 minute visit/walk around your neighborhood. The rate for an additional dog is reduced because it does not extend the time of the visit. If you’d like an hour visit for one or more dogs, please message me to talk about pricing!

Depending on my schedule, I'm happy to consider taking your pup to a local park or greenway for a leashed walk at an additional cost (pricing dependent on the added time and additional mileage). Disclaimer for dog walking services: If there is a heat advisory or if there is thunder and lightning then the time/distance walked may be limited in exchange for safer playtime indoors and plenty love. If the pavement is too hot for you to hold your hand or bare foot to it for more than 10 seconds, than it is too hot for your dog's feet!

Drop-Ins are for a 30 minute visit and can be structured however is best for you and your pup! Feedings, Walks, Play time, Potty time - don't hesitate to ask because I’m happy to help! If you need me to care for your cat during the same 30 minute visit as your dog(s) please let me know so I can give you a discount!
Note about drop-in visits: If you are going out of town and would like drop-in visits to be your dog(s)' only source of care while you are away and they dont have access to a yard/place to potty when alone, I strongly prefer that you book at least 2-3 drop-in visits per day so that they have plenty of opportunities to use the bathroom, be loved on, and get exercise. If your dog is under 1 year old and you are going to be out of town, I will REQUIRE at LEAST 3 drop-in visits per day (if drop-in visits with me are your puppy’s only source of care while you’re away). My reasoning behind this is that puppies under 3-6 months of age are typically fed at least 3 times a day. Additionally, my general rule of thumb is that during the *daytime* a puppy can "hold it" for an hour or so per month of age (e.g. a 3 month old puppy can usually wait 3, maybe 4, hours in between potty breaks), but in my experience during the day an 8 week old puppy typically wants to relieve itself more often than every 2 hours.

Note about puppy rates: My puppy rates are flexible and dependent on the puppy. Meet & greets (provided free of charge) before booking are especially helpful when it comes to puppies because even a brief visit can allow me to get a sense of each individual’s personality and see where puppy is with their training.

Cat Care: Drop-ins for kitties are $15 for a 30 minute visit. This includes everything from litter box cleaning, to feeding, to bringing in your mail. $15 the first cat & $7 for each additional cat.

Parrots? Chickens? Horses? Other pets? I’m more than happy to you care for them too! Feel free to message me the details and we can talk about pricing! :)
