Hi! I recently moved back to Brooklyn after a few years on the West Coast and am excited to have the opportunity to be a member of this community. Animals have been a part of my life since I was born; one of my earliest memories is pretending to be a vet and putting a toilet paper "bandage" on the paw belonging to my family's extremely tolerant Golden Retriever, Marcy. As a child, I participated in obedience and agility classes and was an active member of 4-H. During and after college I worked at the Baker Institute for Animal Health in Ithaca, New York. While living in Washington, DC I served as a volunteer and foster home with Lab Rescue of the LRCP. For the past several years I lived in San Francisco, where in addition to my full-time job I served as the Executive Director of CANTER California, a non-profit that helps retiring racehorses transition into new careers. My recent experience with dog sitting in a professional capacity has been limited, but I regularly walk and watch dogs for friends and family members. I'm comfortable with everything from puppies to adult dogs, and have cared for elderly dogs many times. I'm very active and try to stay in great shape; I am comfortable walking even very strong or large dogs. Fun fact: Unfortunately my husband is allergic to everything with fur so we cannot keep animals in our home... so instead of having a dog I own a horse named Marley.
