Full-time pet lover 🐾 Fenced yard

Pet care experience

I love all animals and have had pets in my life almost as long as I can remember. I've dog sat part time for the past 10+ years while working a full-time job in the tech industry, and I decided to add cats to my pack during the pandemic since I missed a full pet house. ;) I had contemplated leaving the corporate world to work with animals full-time for years, and I finally got the kick I needed to do this full-time when I was laid off in early 2023 (after almost 13 years at the company). My dog background: I grew up in the Midwest, and the majority of my childhood memories include my family's dogs - three Labrador Retrievers and a German Shepherd. As a child, I also loved spending time with friends’ Great Danes, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Bichon Frises, Pugs, English Springer Spaniels and a neighbor’s Newfoundland in addition to the cattle herding/strays on my grandparents’ farm. Because of Rover, I’ve not only been able to pass my love of dogs onto my children, but also give them the opportunity to connect/bond with more dog breeds in an urban environment than I was able to in my rural upbringing. I currently have three resident dogs and two resident cats: Delilah (Cockapoo), Sandie (Pomchipoo), Banksie (Savannah), Cleopatra (Savannah), and Henry (French Bulldog). They are all very friendly and love meeting new animal friends of all sizes. While your pup is with my family, we'll find the right type of activities/play for them - whether that's in my large fenced-in back yard, playtime at local dog parks, or just relaxing/playing inside the house. I’m home during the day (except for my daughter’s school drop offs/pick ups), so your dog will have regular supervision and play time as well as frequent potty breaks throughout the day. I'm available for daycare and boarding and am fairly flexible with the drop off/pick up times. My only time constraints are taking my daughter to/from school and her sports practices/games. I've accommodated 5am drop offs and midnight pick ups when needed, so please share this information when inquiring for a stay. I have a large, fenced-in yard with a pool and ample room for your pet to play with my dogs and other dog friends I may be watching. I prefer a meet & greet at my house to see how they do in the new environment and how they interact with my dogs, but if you're traveling from out of town or aren't able to meet, I'm okay with whatever makes you feel comfortable booking - text, call, or a video call. I sometimes watch multiple dogs from different clients, but as a general rule, I only add one new dog to the pack at a time so it's easier to integrate and ensure all the pups get along and listen to their pack leader. :) I worked in the tech industry for years where everything was based on data, so I've learned to only add one new variable at a time. ;) If your pet is staying with me for daycare or boarding, please be sure to bring their food and crate (if they need to be crated at night or when I need to leave to pick up my daughter from school). I have plenty of dog beds, bowls and toys, so no need to bring those unless your dog uses a slow feeder bowl or you think they'll feel better with their own dog bed. We hope to get the chance to welcome your furry legged family member into our home!

Our dog Bonnie had a great time! We got a collage of pictures of her playing and having a blast! Great communication and flexibility for getting her there and picking her up again!

I highly recommend Christina! I just moved to Palm Desert and needed someone last minute to look after my Great Dane puppy for the day. Christina was able to accommodate me at a very fair price. She has a very nice yard and is clearly an animal lover. She sent me great pictures and I could tell that Finn was very happy, he was well taken care of and he had a great time.

For our first time Rover experience Christina provided a wonderful experience. Our dog loved the interactions with other dogs and snuggling Christina during a movie. She provided great updates and PHOTOS!!

I'm a mother of two human children (although one is now an adult and lives elsewhere), three dogs, and two cats. I've also fostered both dogs and children at different points in my life, and I have a lot more love to give! :) While at my house, I'll always treat your pet as my own while also adhering to any care guidelines you provide.

Information Christina S. would like to know about your pet

My family and I love spending time with dogs, regardless of their breed; however, since I have one resident child, three resident dogs, and two resident cats, I always need to know if your dog gets along with children and dogs. (My cats have their own space and will only be around your pet if they want to.) Because of this, I usually require a meet & greet before booking a stay, but am always open to a phone call or video chat if you’re not able to meet beforehand.

A typical day

Every pet that stays with us is considered a part of our family, and in turn, we do our best to ensure they're satisfied and happy throughout their stay. The activities your dog will engage in while staying with us depends on each dog's temperament/activity level. While some dogs love going on hikes or playing at the dog park, others are content playing in my large, fenced-in yard, going on neighborhood walks, playing indoor fetch or just lounging inside. Regardless of your dog's activity level, my family will find a way to engage and keep him/her happy throughout their stay.

Pet sitting is now my full-time job, so I'm home the majority of the day and love spending that time playing with dogs. We usually spend 2-3 hours playing in the yard in the morning and go out for at least 10 minutes each hour, depending on the weather, before another long play session in the evening. I do have to leave my house occasionally because of my daughter's schedule, but it's rarely for more than an hour. I make sure that any dogs staying with me are in a relaxed/tired state before I leave, and I have cameras throughout my house to keep an eye on them in case they wake up from their play induced nap. ;)
