Dog Lover Extraordinaire

Pet care experience

Hi there, thank you for your interest! My name is Christina. I'm a huge animal lover, and can't remember a time where I didn't have pets in the house! I am currently working and attending college classes from home and have all the time in the world to petsit. I am currently not doing stays in my home, but I am available for drop-ins, walks, and house-sitting! I live in Merritt Island off of Courtenay Parkway but don't mind driving at all. I was attached at the hip to my childhood dog from puppyhood up until caring for her in her old age (she got to be 16!). I have lots of experience with all kinds of dogs, from rambunctious puppies to seniors who need special care to everything in between. I have volunteered at animal shelters for years as well and am considering pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, so you can be confident that I'll treat your pet like a member of the family! I'm very go with the flow and flexible with booking, so feel free to reach out with any questions you may have! I don't have a strict cancellation policy and am open to anything your pet may need.

We have had Christina watch our dog many times. Our dog is extremely anxious especially when we leave and does not like to be alone and we were very clear that we wanted someone to basically live at our home while we were gone so she would have companionship. Of course the sitter could go to work or class or run errands but otherwise we would want them to live out of our home and to spend the night with her. Not just pop in to feed and let her out. We paid a flat rate as well as left cash for food and tried to have food/snacks in the home for her. We had a security system installed before her last stay. We received a text from our neighbor that our dog had been outside barking at all hours of the night and morning. Christina had told me she had decided to run home for dinner real quick the evening before but when we checked the cameras we saw that she had actually been gone all evening (from 4:30-9:30pm). She also left our home again at 2am and didn’t return until 10:30am. We then checked the back yard security camera which showed that she had shut our dog outside at 2am when she left and left her out there until 10:30am! I fastforwarded in horror and tears though 8.5 hours of our dog frantically barking and running between the two back doors scratching and crying and trying to get back in to the house. She is a black 90lb German Shepherd who struggles in the heat constantly. It was August in Florida and extremely warm and humid even overnight. By 10:30am it is blazing hot. I watched the moment she put her outside and she did not put out any water for her. My dog was obviously terrified and frantic. She has never been shut outside over night in her life. She has never been left out in the heat like that. She was constantly moving and trying to get in and barely slept all night. She could have gotten heat exhaustion. She could have eaten something poisonous, gotten hurt or sick, gotten into a scuffle with another animal, or gotten out of the fence and no one would have known. Someone could have called the police for our dog being outside barking all night long. This is neglect and animal cruelty and we were horrified and heart broken. We were extremely lucky we were only staying a few hours away (what would we have done if we would have been a far ways away?) so we cut our trip short and had our neighbor come over to check on her as soon as Christina left. Our dog was exhausted, extremely anxious, over heated, and had tufts of fur falling out of her from the stress. Our neighbor then told us that the last few times Christina watched our dog her car was barely there as well. Like she would pop in and out and that was about it. We now wonder how many times we have paid her to neglect our dog. We were very clear on the fact that we wanted someone to be there as much as possible, not just to come let her out and then leave. I also don’t understand how someone would think it was ok to shut a dog outside in the middle of the night and leave them there until morning, with no water or food, in August in Florida. How many other times did she shut her outside and leave? The trip before this last visit on the day we came home we almost took our dog to the vet that evening because she was coughing and hacking and ended up vomiting up foam. She was becoming increasingly anxious when we left for trips. She would always seem exhausted the first night back and we just assumed it was because us being away was stressful for her even with someone there. Now we wonder if she was left alone outside in the heat for an extended period regularly. Or if she was properly fed and watered the entire time. How often was she let out. How she was treated. We are sick to our stomach wondering what else happened during previous stays. Christina is not trustworthy and should not be trusted with the well being of animals. I have never wrote a review like this in my life but we would have never known if we didn’t have the cameras and if she is doing this to our dog she is most likely doing it to others. Looking at other reviews it is extremely disturbing that we are not the only ones with security cameras who witnessed her neglecting animals and not actually doing what she said she was doing.

Christina was an ok cat sitter. She was inconsistent with arrival times for morning food visits. She followed my instructions, but did not spend time with our cats to make sure they ate. Her visits were often short, 15 minutes at the longest. Christina did however show up for every scheduled visit and helped us call Rover Support for us to fix a booking problem.

Christina was great and had good patience as we have an older dog and sent pictures to let us know she was fine. Even when any issues arose she was quick to notify and was able to quickly resolve.

I have been using Christina as a sitter for my two dogs & cat for the past ~2 years. She has provided me a lot of peace of mind while I'm away on business and takes excellent care of my babies. I plan on using her as my sitter for as long as I need!
