Real-life Disney Princess

Pet care experience

**As of Sept 2023 I no longer have midday availability on weekdays for repeating walks/drop ins. I have limited availability for one-offs** I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. My parents used to jokingly call me a Disney Princess because I was always a favorite with the animals I was around. I have 3 cats, Felix, Freddie, and Frankie, and a Great Pyrenees, Freyja. Finding the perfect caregiver for my pets was always a challenge in the past, and inspired me to start my own pet sitting business. I can guarantee that your pets will be treated like family. Whether they’ve got paws, claws, feathers, or scales, I’m happy to work with all types of animals! Please see the last section of my profile for service policies. I have experience with puppies and seniors! I am comfortable with training and providing structure to the animals that I watch. I’m very active, walking around 4 miles with my dog each day. This makes me an excellent option for dogs that need more exercise than a short walk! I have experience with a variety of different training methods, and I am happy to work with your dog using the methodology that you have used for training. I teach music lessons when I am not hanging out with fluffy friends, and those lessons generally occur in the late afternoons and evenings. I have availability all throughout the day, only asking that you are flexible on times if possible. I will always provide a window of time in which you can expect me. Communication is very important to me, so trust that my schedule will always be clear and communicated! I prioritize animals that need medication in a certain time frame first in my schedule. Please give me a one-hour window for arrival when scheduling visits. When visiting clients, I focus on making sure that their pets get the individual attention that they need. I will always go above and beyond when possible, so never hesitate to ask for what you need! Mail services and plant care are included, so long as they can be completed within the timeframe of your appointment. For kitty clients and other small pets, I am happy to hang out with them while they eat. I tend to be a favorite with shy cats, as I will give them space until they warm up to me. At this time I will administer oral and topical medications, only with a video tutorial or live demonstration from pet parents. While walking, I am on alert to ensure that your dog's safety is a top priority. I do not do on-leash greetings or allow the dogs I am walking to interact with other animals/people.

As a longtime Christie booker, I cannot say enough good things about Christie. I never have to worry about my dog with Christie because she truly treats my dog as one of her own and it shows because my dog just adores her. Christie frequently sends photos and updates, she asks all the right questions to understand your dog's needs and routine, and she always does what she can to make my life as the pet owner easier. Everyone needs a Christie for their pet!

Service Policies: All services require a meet and greet before the booking begins, pending extenuating circumstances (such as a medical emergency, another caregiver stepping away from duties while you are gone, etc). Please keep this in mind when requesting services–I will most likely not be able to accommodate a new client for a same-day booking. *Drop-Ins* Drop-in services include all care necessary, including a walk, playtime, feeding your pet, watering plants, and taking in the mail. These drop-ins can be tailored to your needs and schedule. For dog owners who are on vacation, I require a minimum of 3 30-minute drop-ins for dogs who are free-roaming or have a space larger than a crate to spend time in. For dogs who are crated when alone, I require 4 drop-ins, one of which must be booked as an hour to give your dog adequate time to move around. For clients with cats who are on vacation: I require a minimum of one drop-in per day. There are many things that can go wrong in a 48-hour period, so at this time I will not accept visits every other day or every few days. *Walks* All walk clients must complete a trial walk with the owner present. I ask that all animals have proper walking gear; whether it be a properly fitted harness, a training device such as a Gentle Leader, or otherwise. Any clients who do not provide appropriate walking gear will be walked on a slip lead. Retractable leashes will also not be used, and will be replaced with a traditional flat leash that I will provide. Dogs who are able to demonstrate loose-leash walking for the majority of their walk (sniffing is fine, and a little pulling is understandable) can be booked at the regular rate. Dogs who have had no formal instruction on leash manners and display behaviors such as severe pulling, biting the leash, moderate to severe reactivity towards other animals, etc will be booked at my training rate, which is $40/walk, until these behaviors are managed. I am more than happy to work with your dog on behavioral issues during walks, so please let me know what you are working on. *Housesitting* Housesitting is an all-inclusive service that covers all of your pets' needs, including walks, sleeping at your home, and light maintenance (pool care, plant care, trash at the curb, etc). At this time, I am unable to provide constant care for housesitting clients. I have students in the afternoons and evenings and other petsitting clients sporadically throughout the day. My housesitting rate includes 10 hours overnight (generally from 9/10pm to 7/8am) and an hour midday, which can be broken up into a late morning and afternoon visit depending on your dog’s needs. When I have extra time, I spend it at your house; however, during busy seasons, these are my guaranteed hours! House sittings that occur over the weekend can expect more time spent at your home. If you have any concerns about my schedule, please reach out and I can let you know more specific details about the dates you have selected. If your pets need more than the time listed, we can discuss booking additional time at my constant care rate of $20/hour. This is great for anxious dogs or those who may need additional care due to medical needs.

If your dog or cat has any special needs or medications, please disclose them, even if it’s not something I will be administering while watching them! This ensures that I can look out for any signs of medical needs. The more information you provide, the better I can ensure your pet’s safety. This information includes any known allergies, triggers, or other pertinent info. Please provide information on how your dog does on walks, and how they handle walking past other animals, people, or other potential challenges.

A typical day

I love focusing on enriching the lives of the animals I watch. I do a lot of enrichment activities with my own dog, including using enrichment toys, food puzzles, and exploring new environments. I am dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the animals I watch. Does your dog have a high drive? Let's work with a flirt pole in a fenced-in area to channel that energy. Do you have a lab or hound with a great nose for food? Well, dinner time is now a game of seeking it out! I am happy to travel with your animals to alternate locations for longer walks and hikes. These new environments can be incredibly enriching to our pets! I provide hiking services on weekday mornings and Sundays--please contact me for pricing details. Enrichment is not limited to the dogs that I walk. I am comfortable handling rabbits, reptiles, and other small animals that need time outside of their enclosure. I also love to play with the cats that I watch, encouraging their hunting instincts with a wand toy, or watching Cat TV together if they're more observant! I am an experienced aquarium owner and am comfortable monitoring water levels and feeding habits for frogs and fish.
