Vet Tech and Flexible Schedule!

Pet care experience

There’s just nothing better than spending time with a lovable pup! I always want to provide for them, so being a sitter allows me the opportunity to bring all the happiness in the world to pups in need! They’re always so giving, and they’ve inspired me to do what I can to give back as well. But really, I think Milan Kundera summarized my thoughts up well: ““Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring — it was peace.” Although I love dogs with all my heart, I also have tons of experience taking care of them. I started pet sitting nine years ago, and have spent almost a decade in service to dogs! I am a former vet tech as well, and spent most of my time taking care of ill animals and assisting in surgery. Since then, I’ve volunteered with local rescues and have spent lots of time taking in and fostering rescue dogs in my own home. I also have years of experience in positive reinforcement training (including leash training), so your pup will be in good hands no matter what. Now, I’m just a happy puppy parent to a loveable Corgi named Freddy! When taking on a new client, I typically like to schedule a meet-and-greet. It’s a great way to make sure that we’re all a good fit for one another, which is so important to me. Likewise, it gives us the opportunity to chat face-to-face about your pup and your care expectations. No one knows your dog better than you do, so it’s always great to chat with owners in person about what makes their pup tick! Finally, I just love meeting new dogs! I like to get down on their level to show them that I’m a welcome presence here to make friends, and I’m sure we’ll be best buddies in no time at all. I know that no one likes to be separated from their best friend, so I’m here to make that time as easy as possible! For me, that means excellent communication. I personally always want to know what my pup is up to, and that’s what I provide for owners as well! Detailed daily updates are all part of a day’s work, and I’m happy to give parents information on everything their pooch is doing. Of course, that will always include tons of great pictures so you can see just how much fun we’re having!

So caring and sweet! We were always kept up to date on how everyone was doing with pictures and all. That made us feel better about leaving them.

Information Christie K. would like to know about your pet

Some things I like to learn ahead of time: - Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay? - What’s your preferred method of communication? - Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? - Do you have a vet nearby that you trust? - Is your dog spayed/neutered? - Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? - What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? - What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

A typical day

Austin is THE PLACE for dogs and their people! Seriously! I love everything about this city and the surrounding 'burbs. My Corgi, Freddy, is able to come along with me to most places—and we’re always happy to bring another pooch along whenever possible. Whether we're meeting my husband for happy hour drinks on a patio downtown, or shopping and browsing at the Domain, our dog feels welcome. We never want to leave! We live in Cedar Park, so we have immediate access to the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and many other lakes and dog-friendly hiking. There are so many great trails and parks to take advantage of, so we’ll never run out of adventures to have together!
