*Compassionate & Experienced Care*

Pet care experience

Hello. My name is Christi and I am looking forward to caring for your pets in our home. Since a very young age, I have always had a close bond with canine companions. I have experience in handling most any breed of dogs and love them all. When you choose to board your dog with us, we will specifically cater to the needs of your pet. Our top priority is to provide your dog with a safe and comfortable place while you are away. My husband and I are happy to provide extra playtime for those with high energy levels who love to have fun. We will also gladly spend extra one on one time with dogs who may need additional reassurance and trustbuilding in a new environment. As a proud owner of 2 dogs, I have hands on experience with many special needs situations and can cater to what your pet needs. I have cared for dogs who are blind, deaf, epileptic, diabetic, arthritic and post surgery. As emotional as it may be, I also have experience with end of life care, showing an overflowing amount of compassion and striving to make pets as comfortable as they can be until they cross over to the rainbow bridge. In terms of education, I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Experimental Studies from Texas A&M University. My certifications include Pet First Aid, CPR and NAPPS Certified. I achieved National Certification as a Small Animal Massage Practitioner through NBCAAM, completing studies in canine massage including maintenance massage, performance massage, rehabilitation massage, as well as behavior and handling at Northwest School of Animal Massage. I served as Senior Manager at a luxurious high capacity pet resort for 4 years, providing the highest standards in pet care for dogs, offering boarding, daycare, grooming and retail. Also, I worked as an avid volunteer at my hometown animal adoption center for 5 years. Prior to this, I worked in retail management and merchandising for over 15 years. My husband works from home, and I am at home full time. There is typically someone here the majority of the time. We are always home overnight. I have 2 available spaces to comfortably house dogs here. We have a very spacious back room that we call "The Sunroom" with plenty of window access for your dogs to watch the bunnies, squirrels and birds as they visit, while also enjoying the cool a/c inside. I divide this room with a large pet gate barrier. My dogs will be on one side of this room, while your dog can have private space on the other. The area has nice cool ceramic tile floors for your pet to sprawl out on, and a television for your their listening and viewing pleasure. It is also connected to the higher traffic areas of the house (living room and kitchen areas) for plenty of interaction. You are welcome to see where your dog will be staying when you book with us! There is also what we call "The Pughouse"... This is a small house located in our backyard that doubles as my art studio. The building is insulated, with a/c and heat, a Wink temperature and sound monitor and television. The pughouse has it's own small yard with a chainlinked fence and polycarbonate uv shade cover which allows your dog to have outdoor access safely with no risk of anything getting in or out, as well as being able to go outside without getting rained on. Any males who are not neutered and mark, females who may come in heat, incontinent dogs, or dogs with repetitve accidents are more than welcome to stay in the pughouse. The floors are cleaned multiple times a day. Bedding will be changed as needed. Extra bedding can be provided if needed. I have owned and loved an incontinent dog myself, who utilized part of this area, and I know how important it is that they have a safe, comfortable space that is also easy to clean. The pughouse is perfect for this! Please let us know when you would like to drop your pet off for boarding or daycare. This is not a boarding facility, this is our home. The earliest drop off time is 7am, and the latest time for pick up is 9pm. Hours may differ on holidays or otherwise communicated. While we are home the majority of the time, we do have daily errands and appointments that may require our attention. Thank you in advance for your understanding. *** Currently, I am only accepting small dogs 25 lbs and under.

My little Cheeto absolutely loves coming here for her little vacations. She gets human interaction and outside play time more often than while at home during the day

Thanks Christi, for taking such good care of Maggie while I had to run out of town. She got to play and make new friends which can only be good for her. And now I know a good place where she can go if I have be away again.

Baxter loved staying at Christi's and had so much fun with his new bf Roo! Christi was great to work with as I had to change my reservation twice as the hurricane season impacted my travel plans. She sent an update and pictures every other day as I requested and even told me when my boy was misbehaving (which I appreciated- I know he isn't a perfect puppy and is still learning). Her home is set up perfectly for pet guest which was amazing for me to know my Baxter would be in a safe area all his own - but that he could still see and hear Christi, her husband and her dogs. Playtime is supervised and they taught him to catch a frisbee which is now his favorite thing! She even offers an option of a bath before pickup- which I chose and he was so fluffy and smelled so good. I will definitely recommend Christi and book with her again.

Information Christi C. would like to know about your pet

Is your pet current on all vaccines- Bordetella, DHPP and Rabies? For the safety of all dogs, this is a requirement, absolutely no exceptions. These records MUST be presented PRIOR to your booked arrival time. Your dogs will not be permitted to stay without these records. Does your pet have any medical issues or special needs? Or a past medical issue we should be aware of and watch for certain symptoms? Is your pet on heartworm preventative? Is your pet on any flea preventative? Is your dog spayed or neutered? Does your dog get along well with other dogs? Does he or she have any food allergies or special diet concerns? Are treats ok to give? What are some daily routines or fun things that your dog enjoys? Do your pets have any anxiety issues? Thunderstorms, fireworks, etc... We will provide soft music, sound from the television or white noise to help cover any alarming sounds that may spark anxiety. What can I do to make your pet feel comfortable at their home away from home? Any and all information is helpful. Has your dog even bitten anyone? Does he or she have any aggression issues? How would you describe your pet's personality? Does he/she have high energy or more low key? I have no breed preferences. I truly love any and ALL dogs. Though I do have to admit, I have an extra special place in my heart for what I call "smooshy faced dogs". French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers and Brussells Griffon to name only a few... there's just something about them that makes my heart uncontrollably go AWWW...

A typical day

We have a large fenced back yard area with plenty of shade in areas as well as sunshine, where your dogs can walk, run and have playtime while you have the piece of mind that they are safe and secure at all times. All outdoor playtimes will be supervised, dogs are never left unattended outside. All playtime activity between dogs of different families are always supervised. If you prefer, your dog can have a private space to themselves without playtime with others. Yards are scooped after each time outside. Since I am home full time, I can take the dogs outside quite frequently throughout the day (a minimum of 5 times, but typically more than that). The amount of time outdoors greatly depends on the weather. If it is too hot, too cold or raining, we will take short walks to potty. I will take extra caution during the hot summer months with all dogs, especially brachycephalic breeds such as Pugs, Bulldogs and Boxers. I want your dog to feel as comfortable as possible during their stay with us. You are welcome to bring any items such as beds or blankets and we will keep an accurate inventory of your pet's belongings. Please feel free to bring any toys that your dog enjoys playing with. I will happily provide stuffed Kong toys and other activities to help engage their mind. If there are certain behaviors you are trying to encourage or detour at home, please let me know and we will try to be consistent in their training here if you would like. Dog massages are my specialty, and I will be happy to pamper your pet with relaxing Swedish massage strokes. Ask me about professional hydrotherapy bathing to give your pup the full relaxing spa treatment. Nail trims and ear cleanings are included with all baths. I can also dremel nails upon request at no extra charge.
