Vet Tech and lover of all animals!

Pet care experience

I’m Christa and I love all critters! What I love most about animals is their spirit- they love fully and without judgement, prejudice, or conditions. I’ve worked in the animal/ rescue and pet insurance industries for the past 18 years but I love that Rover allows me to work with them one-on-one and in their own comfort zones. Over the past nearly two decades, I’ve devoted my life to animals. The majority of that time was spent in veterinary hospitals, but I spent four years at VPI Pet Insurance and have done rescue work since 2001 as well. I’ve been able to work with various local and national cat and dog rescue organizations. As you might imagine, working with animals for so long presents countless opportunities to adopt pets and I’ve been a sucker several times. I currently have one dog named, Gracie (from the Downey shelter), three cats (Rex, RJ, and Li Li), and one foster cat (Duncan). To me, all animals deserve love, respect, safety, and all the "creature comforts" that us humans enjoy because I truly think of them as part of the family. I have extensive experience with veterinary medical procedures and treatments, safe animal handling, and behavioral and psychological issues of our pooch and purr friends. I am in tune with many breed traits and physical cues of both dogs and cats and generally know when to be soft and quiet vs when to be high energy. I know how hard it is to be away from our fur babies, so I aim to provide trustworthy, consistent, confident, skilled, and loving care to your pet while you are away. I will follow your care instructions to a ‘T’, since you know your pet best, but I’ll use my veterinary knowledge to keep your kiddos happy and healthy. I’ll also be in consistent and frequent communication, sending photo and text updates so you know what we’re up to while you are away. Your babies will be comfortable and so will you because you will be fully aware of how they are doing!

I’ve known Christa for many years working together in the veterinary field ~ as vet technician assistants. Her love & compassion for all forms of pets is infectious. She is very dependable, full of animal care from knowledge - specifically with cat’s and dogs to fast acting medical calls if ever necessary. Your fur babies would be in amazing care with Christa.

If I could give a 0 I would because she didn’t even show up! It’s stressful to find somebody you can trust. She was scheduled for 2/2 @ 1:00pm. But she never showed! I ended up leaving my event I paid for to come home and take my dog out go potty. She then contacted me over an hour after her scheduled time apologizing that she was running late due to the weather and lost track of time. I don’t give a crap! When you’re hired to do a job, you show up on time! Now I have to get my refund as I paid for a service that I didn’t get! And I had to leave my paid event early too! I was hoping to use her for my upcoming vacation in less than a week and can’t trust her. Thanks for nothing!

Christa provided housesitting and care of my 16 year old beagle recently over a 4-day period. Her communication was fantastic, providing me frequent updates and pictures throughout her stay. As a senior, my dog has some special needs as well which Christa attended to with great care. I would definitely recommend Christa and hire her again!

Information Christa W. would like to know about your pet

Before a stay, I would be happy to set up a meet and greet so we can meet one another and coordinate our schedules. Knowing any medical conditions ahead of time is first and foremost. If your pet is on any medications or in need of any treatments throughout the day/night, I would need to know detailed specifics in advance. It is also always good to know of any behavioral traits; is he or she a door darter? Good with other dogs/cats? Leash aggressive/ eactive? Fears or phobias (ie; fireworks)? Play driven or more receptive to praise or food/treats? Of course, I would like to know what your pup likes to do and what their normal day typically looks like. Consistency is important to maintain normalcy and comfort for animals when their pet parents are away.

A typical day

My schedule is very open so I have lots of free time to devote to your pet! I would love to go wherever your pup likes to go. Play fetch? I'm in! Want to pick up some "pup-a-chino's" at Starbucks? I'm your gal! Relaxing on the couch? That works too! If you have a kitty fur baby, I'm all about the laser pointers, feather wands, remote controlled mice, or just plain snuggle time. Whichever species or choice of entertainment, your furry family members will be in happy, skilled, compassionate hands!
