Pet care experience
I have been a vet tech for 3.5 years. I started as a vet assistant and worked my way into the technician role as my love for animals grew even larger than I knew possible. Due to various factors, I have taken a break from the Vet Med field but still want to have that interaction with a variety of animals. I have dogs and cats of my own as well as a 75 gallon fresh water fish tank. I have pet/house sat for families in the past, but while working as a Vet Tech my time wasn't as available as it is now. I would love to get to know your fur babies!

Christa is amazing! She is both communicative and proactive. Our cat usually doesn't eat a lot when she's stressed and lonely so we often come home from trips to a ton of extra food left in her bowl. But her bowl was almost empty after 10 days which means she felt comfortable and happy the whole time. We couldn't ask for more!!
Christa was an excellent communicator and gave us so many details about our cat during each visit. She was exactly what we needed when we went on our last vacation. Will definitely be using her again in the future!

I would be willing to care for your animals needs, even if they are special. Being a former Vet Tech I am comfortable with medical needs of pets as well. Whether it is daily medications, insulin, specialty diet, medicated baths, I am more than willing to put you and your pet's minds at ease knowing I am comfortable with all of the things that can otherwise be intimidating during pet care. I am open and available to discuss your pets personal needs on an individual basis.

As previously stated, being a former vet tech has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to work with animals who have special needs, or may take longer warming up to strangers. As long as owners are open and honest about their pet I am more than willing to make the owner and pet as comfortable as possible and follow their lead on what is preferred.
A typical day
Depending on the needs of the pet and what the families usual routines are I would work that into how I spend time with the animal. I'd like the pet to feel as comfortable as possible. So if walking through busy Minneapolis is what your pup loves, I will do that. If hikes on trails are preferred, we can absolutely do that. Or if your kitty just wants to hang out for awhile, that's ok too!

Availability
I currently work an at home job that simply requires me to have my computer or cell phone available 8 hours a day 5 days a week (Thursday-Monday 12p-8p) to respond to messages that come through occasionally. These transactions only last a minute or two and can be done while multi tasking. My current remote job would never get in the way of the care of pets and allows me the flexibility needed for your busy family schedules.
