Loving Leschi Home

Pet care experience

I grew up with dogs in the home. I have trained dogs in the distant past. After moving to the Leschi area, I found myself jealous of people walking in the woods, near the water, and in the general neighborhood with their dogs. I wanted a dog but life was too busy. When I found Rover, it was a great match! I just live in a duplex with my partner, Duncan, who is a general animal lover. Adult children and friends visit from time to time. There are no other pets in the home. For the first five years of Rover, I mostly sat on weekends for new dogs, because I worked outside the home Monday thru Thursday. Now I've retired early, though I still do some rental property management and lots of volunteer work. I do live on a hill and there are stairs in the front of the house, and in the house, which can be hard on dogs who shouldn't do stairs, but who can't help themselves. Also, if you have a lot to carry in at drop off or carry out at pick up, you can ask me to help carry, or park in the alley behind the house, temporarily, to avoid the effort of the stairs.

Christa was a great communicator with us and it was clear our dog felt right at home with her! She is the best!

Christa was great and my dog had such a good time with her. She sent frequent updates and pictures, and I picked up a tired, happy dog! I will definitely use Christa again in the future.

Another successful stay for Aspen at Camp Christa! He went on lots of walks and we received much appreciated photos and updates. We feel so fortunate that Aspen well taken care of while we are gone!

Crista is truly a superstar. Aspen just completed his second staycation with her and I know if he could talk he would be singing her praises right now. I appreciated her pictures of their adventures and her caring nature.

I do not have any of my own pets...at least not yet. That makes me a good match for dogs who need to be the only animal in the house. I live in a roomy home, with a small, fenced back yard. Unfortunately, the fence is not super secure, especially for small dogs, so I will probably keep your dog on a leash, whenever we are outside, even in the back yard. I do have a covered balcony, and when weather is nice, dogs and people hang out on that porch and watch the neighborhood.

Information Christa E. would like to know about your pet

Let me know your favorite qualities of your dog and what makes them happy. Also tell me about any bad behaviors I should be on the watch for and how you find it helpful to handle them. I like to know what your dog's food and sleep routines are, so I know what to expect. I keep free dog treats in the house and would love to give some to your dog. But certainly if that's not good for their diet, let me know and I'll abide by their diet limitations. I prefer not to take dogs who are not housebroken. Mistakes do happen! But if they regularly have an issue with using the bathroom inside, I am not a good fit. There are Rover sitters (more expensive ones) that do handle this issue. Also, while my partner sometimes works at home, it's not reliable. And I am partially retired but frequently need to leave the house for hours at a time. Your dog should be comfortable being left alone for up to 6-8 hours, not daily, but possibly multiple times during their stay, depending on how long they stay.

A typical day

I offer daily walks through the woods and/or down along the water. My animal-loving partner helps out with some short walks, extra petting, and play time.

Availability

I live in the Leschi neighborhood and walk daily, near the lake and in the woods, and will gladly take your pet with me. Sometimes I travel to different parks, or the arboretum. I enjoy watching dogs get more comfortable the longer they stay. I cant help frequently loving on them, if they are receptive. I try and honor a dogs wishes as they make sense - how much contact they want, how long of a walk they are comfortable with, etc. I like to listen to what an owner has to say about their dogs habits and character during the meet and greet, and then watch it all come true over the stay.
