Your pup's other best friend!

Pet care experience

About Me: My name is Chris and my wife is Sarah. We are a couple living in Baltimore with our service dogs Shadow and Nosy. We would love to be your pup's best friend while you're away. My wife and I both work full time. I work in Fells Point, and my wife works in downtown DC. Our pups are crazy for walks and friends, so any dog we watch will end up getting ample exercise and great companionship. Both of us grew up with dogs and have had our dogs since they were a puppy so we're experienced with puppy care and training. I also trained my dog to be a certified service dog. I've worked as a dog sitter before in DC. **** We do send photos with every stay. There's nothing better than to know your pet is safe with us, so rest assured we'll actively communicate with you throughout your dog's stay with us **** Why I love dog sitting: Both Sarah (my wife) and I grew up with dogs. I've always had a dog in the house, I couldn't imagine life without a dog. I've previously had an Akita, a husky, a dalmatian, and now my German Shepherd. Sarah has had labs, goldens, a beagle, and a Rottweiler growing up and now she and I are raising our German Shepherd, Shadow and a German Shorthaired Pointer named Nosy. All this to say that between us, we can take care of any dog! About my yard: We do not have a backyard, however, we also live very close to Patterson Park and take our dogs on long walks through the park regularly, and we'd love your dog to join us! On the weekends we go on hikes and play soccer with our Shadow, where I kick the ball and she fetches it. She's better than Messi and Ronaldo combined! My experience administering medication Yes, we are comfortable administering medication. About our Service: We'll guarantee at least 3 hours a day outside, if your dog is able to do it. (s)he will spend it playing, walking, running, sniffing, chasing rabbits, barking at squirrels, etc. It won't be all at once, it'll be split with an hour walk in the morning, and two hours in the evening. We'll go to Patterson Park or the Promenade for the evenings. This'll give your pup some time to socialize as well.

So because Shadow has gotten arthritis in her old age, I’ve modified my services to be just dog walking, or caring for your pup in your home. However, if you’re in the neighborhood your pooch will get plenty of playtime!

Information Chris G. would like to know about your pet

We'd like to know a bit about the dog's temperament, activity level and if they get along well with other dogs. We'd also be interested to know of any fears your dog has (vacuum cleaners, brooms, paper bags etc.) so we could avoid doing anything that might make your dog uncomfortable. Of course we'd want to know if they have any special care requirements or if you have any special requests (no table scraps etc.). We have no breed preferences. Lastly, it is important for us to know your dog's level of separation anxiety. Since my wife and I will spend our time working during the day, we want your dog to be able to be happy and comfortable in your home and not stress. Thus, we'd prefer if your dog is cool with being left alone until we come back to spend time with them.

A typical day

Our Walks: When your dog is with me, (s)he will go on morning, afternoon, and evening walks with my Shadow and I. In the morning we'll go on about a 30-60 minute walk in Patterson Park or the Promenade. On our evening walks, we'll spend some time at the park, usually about two hours, where we'll play with other dogs at the dog park. If there aren't any there, we'll play soccer with the dogs. I usually bring a ball so my dog gets some exercise at least. If its the weekend though, oh boy. My wife and I love to take hikes, so, that's what we'll be doing. We'll either go to Great Falls or other state parks and we'll spend a good part of the morning hiking. We'll come home and rest for a bit, and go play soccer with your dog in the evening. On rainy days, we'll play indoors. I love to train dogs, so if you want your dog to do something new, let me know! It'll be pretty relaxed and calm.
