Colby & I Welcome You!

Pet care experience

I have loved animals my entire life. I've always had different pets and have sat for different friends at different stages in life. I currently have a 9 year old Jack Russell Terrier mixed with a Chihuahua. Since he is an only child, he loves to get friends and visitors! I love animals so much that I do not eat them. I am a vegan and do not consume animals or their by products. Colby is slowly transitioning to a vegan diet but we do not judge anyone. Just tell me what your beloved pet eats and I will accommodate. We welcome all to our humble abode and can't wait to meet you!! I have a small fenced in back yard and when in my care, we go outside quite a bit when the weather is good. We may also take trips to the park! Again, Colby and I would love to have your pet join us while you're out of town and/or enjoying your holiday or event.

Cherill was utterly amazing. We were called out of town for a family emergency and even though she was busy with her own schedule, she picked up our dog and delivered him back to our home and kept us abreast of how she was playing with our pooch. I have never met Cherill, but my dog has, and he rates her A+++ She was very flexible, and compassionate, and took excellent care of our dog. I would use her again in a heartbeat.

Information Cherill A. would like to know about your pet

Just share with me your pet's needs and I will do my best to make sure I meet the needs of your pets. I can care for older pets and give them the love and attention they may need and I can take pets that have high energy out for as many walks as they can handle. If your dog takes medicine, it will help if you bring his/her medicine and their containers, schedule, and instructions for when it is to be administered. I also try to take any dog but if your pet has behavioral concerns, please share them with me ahead of time, so that I can try to allot for them and be able to make your dog happy and any other dog that I may be sitting. I also prefer if your dog has a flea collar and/or is treated for fleas before coming to visit Colby and I, especially during summer months. Fleas can be hard to combat and Colby and I take special precautions against them in our home. Your open communication regarding your dog is most appreciated. Finally, I cannot take females in heat or at risk animals like Rottweilers or Doberman's. My HOA has strict restrictions against at risk dogs. However, I do sit these dogs in their own home. I have owned a couple of Rottweiler's in the past and am very familiar with them. I don't mind keeping pets free and uncrated while I am gone, unless they have behavioral issues, not potty trained, and/or if you keep them crated when you are not home. I want to keep them in their own routine for as much as possible.

A typical day

My Colby goes out about 6-8 times a day on a regular day. If there is inclement weather, or if I am working outside of the home, he goes out 2-4 times a day. Sometimes we walk in the neighborhood and sometimes we go to the park. I keep all dogs on leashes when outside of the home so their leash and harness would be required to come with them for their stay. I am also a member of a dog meet-up group and may take your dog on social visits at a dog park. Please let me know how your dog socializes with other animals. Colby sleeps on top of my bed at the foot of the bed. He likes to lean up against my leg and curl up in a ball but he has many pet beds throughout the house. We live in a two story townhouse. You may feel free to bring your pets bed and/or favorite toys so that he/she can feel comfortable when they go to sleep. I let the dogs be whoever they are. If they are chill and lax, I let them be. Just the same, if they hyper and active, I give them the space to run, play, and jump. If you have a dog that is not potty trained or that is a chewer, etc., I prefer to crate your dog when I am gone. If your dog is well mannered and does not do these things, then I am fine with leaving your dog uncrated. Colby does not get crated. He is free to roam the house as he choses while I am gone. However, he was crated as a puppy and until he was house trained. I only prefer crating your dog when I am not home, unless your dog feels comfortable in his/her crate at other times. I'll be with your pet most of the day on most days and all day on some days. We go outside 6-8 times on good weather days. We go out 2-4 times during inclement weather. I walk the dogs in the neighborhood or go to a local park. Colby loves to lean against my leg at the foot of my bed at sleep time but he has beds in most rooms in the house. Please bring your boy or girl's bed with them so they can feel at home when they go to sleep. Or, they can use one of Colby's comfy beds.
