vet student, love cuddles & hikes!

Pet care experience

~ ABOUT ME: Hello! I am a veterinary student at UC Davis! I have experience training dogs, working as a veterinary technician, horse handling, and caring for a range of exotics (from a tortoise to a giraffe!). I love animals of all shapes and sizes and I can't wait to get to know yours! I am happy to provide the peace of mind knowing that your pets are safe and happy while you're away. Professionalism aside, I LOVE cuddles and will make sure they don't miss out on any affection. I grew up with cats of all sorts, from semi-feral to kitty socialite, and adore all of them. As an outgoing person, I like to take dogs of any size on walks and runs, and sometimes even hikes! Please note: I have a strict on-lease policy for dogs when in public, no matter the temperament or the training. This is purely for the safety of your dog as well as the safety of others. Because of my veterinary experience, I am very comfortable providing in-home medical care to animals, including daily oral, ophthalmic (eye), and topical medications; as well as injections and subcutaneous (under the skin) fluids where prescribed by your regular vet. As for staying in your home, I am a clean and neat person and do not smoke. As I am a student, I am in classes throughout the week and will need to be out of the hours for up to 6 hours most days. ~ SERVICES: House sitting: Rates start at $45 per night, but vary depending on number of pets, medications required, and daily routine. I do not have a limit on number of pets; I have sat for a family of 7 with medications, fluids, injections, and home-cooked meals (and it was tons of fun!). Drop-ins and walks: Start at 30 minutes and take place around your neighborhood. Feel free to ask me about longer excursions and hikes! Note: I am only able to offer these services within Davis. ~~~ Please feel free to ask any questions about my services, my aim is to make it as easy and worry-free as possible for you and your family! I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

I'm very pleased to support Chelsea as a dog sitter on Rover.com! She is an extremely organized, conscientious and responsible individual. Additionally, her experience as a vet tech means she is knowledgeable about and attentive to the needs of house pets. Moreover, she is delightful!

Chelsea did a great job taking care of our rascal cat Pasha. She was communicative and responsive. Pasha was relaxed and chill when we got back, which means he was well taken care of :)

Chelsea is a thoughtful, knowledgeable, caring pet giver. She was responsible for our 10 month old boxer for a few days while we were on vacation. She maintained our routine--exercise, food, playtime, affection and our puppy seemed very happy upon our return (not mad at us at all). Hiring Chelsea, you will be able to enjoy your vacation and know that your pet is being cared for by a true pet lover!

Chelsea is my friend and coworker, and has repeatedly exhibited excellent animal care. She is thorough, caring, and takes steps to provide wonderful care. I would highly recommend her to walk and house sit for animals in need! Great job from her, and she won’t leave you wondering if your animal is safe or happy! Highly recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

My priority is your pet's safety and comfort, so whatever your rules are for your them, I'll do my best to follow! I always keep pets on leash outside unless we're in a gated yard or a dog park. Your dog's recall is not a strong with me as it is with your family, and it is important to me to be as safe as possible.

Information Chelsea C. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed or size preference, I love them all! Before house sitting, I would love to meet your pet and have a quick tour of your home. I would like to know any specifics to her/his schedule (i.e. must sleep in crate, has playdates with a neighbor sometimes) as well as pertinent medical history (i.e. seizures, back or knee injuries). At our meet-and-greet, I like to learn about your dog's quirks and temperament - are we dog or leash-aggressive? Are we treat motivated? Are we responsive to basic commands (sit, stay, come)? Are we protective of our family and home? I have worked with fearful dogs, both in a veterinary setting and while house-sitting, and sometimes it just takes a little extra time to get to know each other. If your dog has difficulty with meeting new friends, I may suggest additional introductory visits for a quick walk or treats prior to my stay.

A typical day

I love to go on walks and even hikes! I tend to choose neighborhood walks over dog parks as other dogs can be unpredictable. However, I hope to maintain your dog's regular routine as much as possible.

I am a full-time student, though my schedule varies greatly, so I may be home all day or out of the house for up to 8 hours. In certain cases, I can drop in during lunch time for potty breaks and feeding. I try to keep your pet's schedule as similar as to when you are home, so I make time for morning and/or evening walks and playtime!
