I'm ex-Military and currently still work but try to be flexible. I love ALL animals big or small and love being able to spend time with them(even with potty training and other hassles. I often say that I enjoy a pets company over a humans. Animals understand me and I understand them. I also would like to add that I've never been bitten by an animal. They may growl at me at first because I may seem intimidating. (I'm 6'3 and 250 lbs. ). But they will get to know and love me as I will them.
