Pet care experience

Hi there!! My name is Chandler and I am a 23-year-old UT student working toward my MD in Radiation Oncology! I am currently employed part-time as a Behavioral Therapist for kiddos with Autism in Round Rock. My hope is to save up money to put toward student loans, so help me by letting me help you!! ***For those simply wanting to know my experience and not looking to read very much, please scroll down to the bottom where I have listed it in a less detailed style! For those who are wordy, like me, read on! :)*** With a Vet-Tech for a mom, my entire life has been filled with animals! Although I *NO LONGER LIVE* with my parents, the home I grew up in has always been filled with rescues, transports and fosters. Currently at my parents home in Cedar Park, we house a variety of fish, a tarantula named Charlotte, FOUR black cats (Jax, Jenna, Jace, and Jasper; Jenna we raised from 2-weeks-old), and FOUR dogs (Kato, Bella, Buster, and Bowie) who are all rescues/fosters/side-of-the-road babies. No worries though, we have plenty of space to accommodate our furry, hairy, and scaly friends! Kato is my 7-year-old rescue, but being a 115 lb Catahoula, he stays with my parents for the big house. Kato is Deaf and has been trained using American Sign Language (of which I am fluent in and utilize in training ALL my pets). Bella is our German Shepard and we have had her since I was 11! We got her after the passing of our previous dog Ginger. Buster and Bowie are both new additions to the family, within the last 2 years. Buster came to us with horrific mange & many other issues, and Bowie with Hip Displasia, but we have loved every minute of nursing these good-boys back into prime health. Along with having personal experience with animals of all kinds and sizes due to the environment I grew up in (and visit regularly), I also have experience with animals in professional settings. I worked as an interpreter for Deaf children at Open My World, a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center in Georgetown, TX, for three years and am an active volunteer for the Austin Humane Society in Williamson County. Additionally, I am an official Foster and Sponsor for San Antonio Pets Alive where I adopted my girl Zoe while fostering her 2 years ago. I have experience training dogs and would be more than happy to provide this as a service to anyone in need - I specialize in dual training that utilizes both verbal and nonverbal commands (sign language). Studies have proven repeatedly that our furry friends are capable of retaining TWICE as many non-verbal cues than they can verbal commands! Although I will always walk your pup on-leash, I have trained my girl Zoe to walk off leash as I believe in there being a mutual amount of trust and respect flowing between owner and pet. Allowing her to roam freely when appropriate makes her much more apt to stick right by my side when needed while giving her a sense of "independence". Zoe has been trained using both verbal/nonverbal commands and, so far, knows 31 cues ranging from when to cross the street and exactly where to potty all the way to basic tricks such as shake, stay, and roll over. I have had Zoe since July of 2018 and when I first adopted her she was a stray in-take that knew ZERO commands, so this behavior is truly achievable! ***I believe that animals are more than just our pets, but living creatures with thoughts, personalities, and souls, and should therefore be treated as such!*** This means that I will take care of your baby with the same dedication as if she/he were a REAL baby (Lol)! While I do not have a fenced back yard, the apartment complex I live in has both a fenced dog-park AND backs up to a nature reserve full of trails and rivers of which I walk multiple times EVERY day. Along with this, my particular unit has its own open field nearby for easy potty access. I believe that walks are more than just exercise, but act as a source of stimulation and are therefore VITAL to your pups mental health/growth just like toddlers. Due to this belief, I provide a minimum of three 15 minute walks a day (NOT including potty breaks). Of course, if this is something you'd like to tweak, I will always adhere to your wishes! If you allow me the opportunity to walk, petsit, or board your furbabies, I can guarantee that I will provide you with service unlike any other, in the best way. Through genuine love and respect of your pets, and thorough experience, you'll be wanting me to be the official God Parent of your four-legged kiddo by the time it's all said and done! If my hands-on style sounds like the type of care you're looking for, feel free to contact me through Rover. I look forward to getting to know you and your furbud! Experience: > Dual-Training utilizing both verbal and non-verbal cues (American Sign Language) > [3yrs.] experience interpreting for Deaf Children at Open My World (therapeutic horseback riding center for the disabled) > [5yrs.] Offical Foster and Sponsor for SAPA (San Antonio Pets Alive) > [8yrs.] Trained by and Official Volunteer for Austin Humane Society, working mostly for the Williamson County location off Crystal Falls > [8yrs.] Experience with disabled animals including but not limited to disabilities such as: Deafness, Partial Deafness, Blindness, Hip Displasia, Joint Issues, Arthritis, etc. > [5yrs.] Experience working with and caring for animals with a history of abuse or other traumas > [15yrs] Experience Pet Sitting including overnight stays on-site, drop-ins, and boarding through personal home > Thorough experience with newborn puppies and kittens (including syringe and bottle feeding experience as well as temp regulation) > Years of experience potty-training new puppies I currently work part-time but completely take off of work for all of my pet bookings. This provides me with the ability to truly focus on your pet, and provides you with the assurance that your baby is getting all of the attention and affection they need! When your pet is here they will truly have my undivided attention. I will be there with your pet 100% of the time, giving you the ability to truly relax and know your baby is in good hands. You will receive a plethora of updates, pictures, and videos, so we can share all of the fun they are having while you are away. Having my own well-trained and sociable pup, your pet will always have a buddy to get their zoomies out with and a new friend to look forward to!

We had a wonderful experience with Chandler (and her fiance Zach), who watched our pack of three elderly dogs, including one fearful one. I liked Chandler and Zach on meeting them--clearly kind and dog-loving, soft-spoken and gentle. The dogs were clearly happy and comfortable sharing their home for a two week stay. House looked great when we got back and we appreciated the frequent communication. Look forward to working with them again!

Hands down best pup sitter on Rover! Chandler went above and beyond and loved our dog, Avery, as if she was her own. My dog can be a little anxious when meeting new people and having us go out of town, but you couldn’t tell at all from all of the picture updates we received. She left our house immaculate and even signed for and brought in packages that were delivered while we were gone. I 10/10 recommend Chandler and can’t wait to book her again when my husband and I go on our next vacation.

Chandler is amazing! She’s so easy to communicate with, put so much genuine thought and effort into taking care of my pup, kept me updated with photos and videos throughout the day and made sure she was 100% sure of all of Dolly’s habits, behavioral tendencies, etc. I will absolutely have her watch my dog again!!!

Chandler was so sweet, caring, accommodating, and responsible! My family and I were very nervous about leaving our dog, Loki, for the first time but Chandler (and her dog Zoe) made Loki feel like one of the family! We also got 2 updates a day with loads of pictures. All in all, I know that when I go on a trip again, Chsndler is the one to call!

Information Chandler K. would like to know about your pet

While I am comfortable and have experience working with dogs of all breeds and sizes, please let me know about the special needs of your baby! This includes behavioral tendencies, situations they may be uncomfortable in, food preferences, etc. Also, while I NEVER mix dogs unless given permission by all owners to do so, please let me know if your dog is skiddish around other people/animals! It will help me style my walk when I come across other walkers.

A typical day

I live in Round Rock area and have for my entire life, which means I know all of the best and secret spots for wide-open nature and potential adventures for your pup(s)! My particular apartment complex backs up to a field with hidden hiking trails and a small creek to play in, where your furry friend will spend plenty of time exploring and discovering their wolf-ancestor within. I will always have my phone on me and will be sure to send you plenty of pics and videos of your precious doggo(s) so you know just how much of a blast they are having! (PS) I provide a doggy-bath if your pup gets dirty! If creek-play is something you're not comfortable with this is completely fine, just let me know beforehand. (Creek is max 2-feet deep in the area I take the dogs)
