Patient, Loving Caretaker

Pet care experience

My heart goes out to each and every dog I see in need of a loving home. While I can’t provide a haven for every rescue, I feel that I can do my part by opening my heart and home to pups part-time when their owners are away. I know how challenging it can be to find patient, loving, and trustworthy sitters--so I’m 100% devoted to ensuring that whenever you’re apart, your dog will have a wonderful time in a secure, calm, and supportive environment. I work from home and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to follow your dog’s regular routine closely. We’ll go on walks several times a day, explore parks in my Midwood neighborhood, and play with each other. Reward-based training is one of my favorite hobbies, so if you give the go-ahead, I’d love to work on new skills or reinforce existing habits and responses. I’m incredibly patient and dogs tend to relax easily when they’re with me. I love making progress on training goals, or just enjoying the process and treating pups for their work! I helped train our family’s dog, and working through her separation anxiety was excellent preparation for becoming a pet-sitter! Staying active is important to me. In my free time, I enjoy practicing Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art. I love going on walks, and one of the reasons I adore spending time with dogs is because they bring out my playfulness and the sillier side of my personality. When your dog is in my care, we’ll enjoy indoor and outdoor play, and get plenty of exercise. Midwood is a beautiful area of Brooklyn with lots of space for us to run around and have fun! There’s lots of space, and we have plenty of parks. I’m excited to meet you and your dog and become a consistent caregiver for your family. I will communicate regularly and thoroughly, so you always know exactly what to expect and will get a glimpse of the fun we’re having together. Earning and keeping your trust is essential to me, so I hope that you will never hesitate to reach out if there’s any way I can help!

Cathy was awesome !! She took the timme tô te tto onow Nola and let her adjust to her in her own pace ... Nola tends to be super skittish with people and I could tell she was super comfortable with Cathy. I was able to have peace of mind while at work knowing that my baby was in great hands and to make things better Cathy kept sending us pic updates through the day ! Love it will def book her again.

Cathy does a fantastic job with my two little monsters! On a few occasions I've had her walk them when I have to work late. I can always count on her showing up and not just doing her job but showing them love and affection. They are always so excited to see her so much so that my 50lb boy likes to sit on her shoulder!

Cathy took care of my dog for a week when I went away for vacation. We loved that she took the time to take him to the dog park for socialization and made sure she taught him some new tricks. By the time we got back he didn't even miss us anymore. I would absolutely ask her to take care of our dog again.

I have experience with many breeds and sizes of dogs, from a 15-lb. Bichon Frise to 65-lb. Bull Terriers. When we first meet, I’ll have a list of questions to go over about schedule, preferences, exercise, medical needs, and so on. The pup and I will get comfortable with each other, and I’ll be sure to address all of your concerns and any questions you have for me. The goal is to make sure I’m fully equipped to care for all aspects of your dog’s wellbeing, and provide any and all reassurances that will set your mind at ease!

A typical day

We’ll go for a leisurely walk each morning, do some training or engage in playtime, and then I’ll get to work while the dog enjoys a chew toy or relaxes for a while. I’ll check in frequently to take her out when she needs to go, and in the evening we can go to a dog park and another long walk. Then we’ll follow up dinner with evening cuddles. Of course, everything is quite flexible and based on your usual schedule and your pup’s preferences. We can be super-social and active, or more relaxed and secluded--whatever’s best for his personality and energy level.
