Years of fostering/worked for LHS

Pet care experience

I got my first dog 12 years ago, and she is sleeping soundly beside me as I write this. Since then my life has slowly become dedicated to helping animals, through working at my local humane society, and volunteering my time fostering animals. I have one years experience as an animal care technician, responsibilites including feeding, walking, assessing health, reporting possible illness, bathing, cleaning kennels, socializing younger animals, and evaluating pet to pet interactions in new and potentially stressful situations. I have taken seminars on reading body language, proper leashing techniques, and how to spot and treat heatstroke. I've handled very large dogs, and small skittish dogs, I am very comfortable and confident using positive reinforcement and treats to build a relationship with the animal. Through fostering I have experience giving medicine to cats, kittens, puppies, and adult dogs. I can identify common URI symptoms and know how to administer safe at home remedies. I know how important routine is, and how each dog has specific needs, should it be working with food aggression or fear of bicyclists, or potty training. Each dog needs its perfect home and I will try to be that perfect home away from home!

Safety, trust & environment

I have 3 medium sized female dogs- a 12 year old collie mix, a 6 year old blue heeler mix, and a 1 year old blue heeler. The 2 older dogs don't care to play with others, they're pretty lazy. The puppy is extremely friendly and loves to play with cats and dogs. I also have 2 crates, and 2 spare bedrooms, and am able to separate my dogs should your pets prefer a quieter environment. I also have 2 cats- an adult male and 1 year old female. They both are dog and cat friendly. We have an XL sized fenced in backyard, and a single family home. If your dog enjoys a longer walk, there is a park a block away that has a walking trail. There are bark parks that are drivable, along with walking and hiking trails. I have 2 housemates who both love animals and would spoil your pet with snuggles.

Information Catherine B. would like to know about your pet

Let me know how your dogs get along with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages and genders. If they have any special restrictions, like is food possessive or if they have any triggers that make them pull on a leash or reactive at all. Dietary restrictions if boarding, and if they have separation anxiety it can be an option for them to sleep in a kennel in the bedroom. Any info you think is important!

A typical day

I can play fetch all day! Usually I wake up, I make myself some coffee, and then throw a ball outside for my dogs while I sip it. Any time my dogs need to go out they go, my back door usually opens once every half an hour. If your dog is sociable with my youngest blue heeler, she never runs out of energy! Our local park has walking paths and a disk golf course if your dog loves to watch frisbees!
