Comfy & loving home away from home!

Pet care experience

I've had dogs of my own for over 40 years and volunteer for several animal rescue organizations. Animal rescue is my passion! Over the years I've adopted, rescued, and fostered over 35 dogs and have significant experience with many personality traits and medical issues. I take in only one family’s dog(s) per day so your beloved pet is assured of getting lots of one-on-one attention and affection in a calm, safe, and loving environment. Being the only extra member of my pack allows me to customize your dog’s experience and routine to match that which they are accustomed to at home.

Caryn was wonderful with our 10 year old dog, Kaia, treating her like one of her own. From the photos and videos Caryn sent us it was apparent that Kaia was relaxed in the house and had some great outings to Mill Pond and the beach. We didn't think she'd want to come back home with us :-). We highly recommend Caryn!

This was our first time leaving our dog and we were nervous. Caryn put all our fears to rest. She took care of our dog for 3 days and we could not be happier! She took in our dog like one of her own- she was caring, attentive, and our dog came back happy, healthy, and well exercised. Caryn sent pictures and stories including our dog making a pillow fort to nap in! Meanwhile, we were able to enjoy our vacation with no worries!

My dog stayed with Caryn for a week in June and had a great time. She sent pictures and videos every day so we could see that our dog was well cared for and happy. We especially loved that she took our dog for daily hikes so she got a lot of exercise. Caryn lets the dogs have the run of the house which is what my dog is used to so I think she felt right at home. You can just tell that Caryn loves dogs and they love her right back. We highly recommend Caryn and are so grateful that we found her. Now we can take more vacations and have complete peace of mind that our dog is in good hands.

Tuukksi loved her stay with Caryn and had so much fun. We loved all the photos and it was so great having someone care for our girl as if she were their own. We will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for all the great adventures you brought her on!

I have a small fenced yard for frequent potty breaks and if appropriate would love to take your dog for walks on the Newburyport rail trail (directly behind my house), to a local dog park with trails and a pond, or to the beach if off-season. Dogs will have free reign of the house and all the furniture if that suits your dogs lifestyle. I’m happy to crate your dog as well if that would make him or her more comfortable. Your dog can be as active or chill as you request. I will love your dog as one of my own so they are stress-free and happy while you're away.

A typical day

Living in Newburyport provides many opportunities for fun doggy play time. We can walk the Newburyport rail trail, go for romps on the beach off-season, head to Mosley Woods where dogs can play off-leash, take a ride to Mill Pond in West Newbury for hiking and a swim in the pond, as a few examples. If your dog prefers a more relaxing vacation, he or she can lay on my sundeck and watch the squirrels play in the trees. Just let me know the type of activity your dog would enjoy.
