Pet care experience

My name is Carrie, and I have loved all pets ever since i was a little girl. I have had horses, dogs, cats, chickens, raccoon, even a flying squirrel. Not to mention the reptiles I grew up with, having an older brother. I have always had love for all animals, and took care of them my whole life. I've always wanted to have a rescue center of my own, and hopes maybe one day I will. I have a dog named Chunk who is a rescue, an 82 lb."lap" pit-bully mix. He is the love of my life! I enjoy walking with him every day and seeing the excitement in his eyes (and body) when I grab the leash. Seeing how much he loves walks makes becoming a dog walker even more special to me because I can share that joy and experience with many other dogs. My experience doesn't come with a pay check, but with years of owning many dogs of all breeds. Growing up living in the "country", (not sure if you've heard of it or not, the Redlands, which is west of Homestead Florida), I have always found stray dogs and brought them home. I'd tell my parents they "just followed" me home. (least that's what I told my parents to avoid being "spoken" to about bringing strays home), either way I kept them :). I am currently studying to become a dog trainer, which is very exciting to me. I have learned so much about dog psychology and behavior, It really kept my interest because of how they act and feel as opposed to humans. It really had my interest, and I understand a lot more on why they act the way they do in situations and learned a lot on how to look for signs and read body language. That has helped me with my "now" dogs with raising them...and building a better bond with them. I really hope to make a with future dog walking because I believe walking is an extremely important, underrated, thing we can do for our pets. It's not only good for their health with exercise, it's also good for stimulating their minds with different smells, sights and sounds. Plus, they enjoy it! I know how busy life gets, and we don't always have the time to walk our pets. That's what I hope I can do for you and your pet.

Carrie not only has a love of dogs, but an understanding of dogs which makes for a great person to walk and care for your dog. My dog almost gets more excited to see her than me! It is so fun to watch. And once you meet Carrie and engage in her services you too will quickly see you made the right choice!

Carrie is the most compassionate and caring person I've ever met. Saying she loves animals is an understatement. She has helped with dog rescue and has knowledge of dog training. Her personal dog was rescued from a bad situation and he is the happiest dog in the world now! I would definitely recommend her as a dog sitter. She is extremely trustworthy and will go above and beyond.

Information Carrie Z. would like to know about your pet

(Pertaining to walks), I'd want to know if the dog is people or dog friendly. I'd also like to know what motivates him (toys/treats). Reason for that I have learned to have some form of distraction for the dog incase there's a situation where the dog is in a situation he needs to steer away from. Toys or treats (especially his favorites) is a way to pull the dogs attention more towards me so we can move away from the situations. I also would like to know what the dog enjoys so I can incorporate it with our walks. If he's shy with other dogs, I would keep that in mind and keep him away from areas with a lot of dogs and people. Breeds? Pitties hold a key to my heart for sure, but I love them all.

A typical day

Depending on the dog would depend where I would go for walks. If I have a fearful dog, I would keep in mind and keep the dog away from areas (other dogs or people) so they don't feel anxious or nervous. If the dog I am walking is outgoing and adventurous, I'd go to parks (that allow dogs), and other adventurous places we can explore together. If the dog I am walking likes to run, I would take him to places that we can run together (on the leash of course) so he can get all the zoomies out come back happy (and tired).
