26-Yr Pro, HomeF/T Small-Dog Resort

Pet care experience

I have over 26 years of professional pet care experience, working at pet hotels, a pet supply retailer, an emergency vet, an animal shelter, a Humane Society, dog training and pet sitting. I have extensive breed and behavior knowledge in many domesticated animals, but mostly dogs. I specialize in nutrition and feeding. Please let me know if your dog needs to gain or lose a few pounds, or just needs to become healthier. Pet sitting IS my full-time job! I love dogs (and other animals) so much, I started my Pet Care career right out of high school, starting with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and working at a pet supply retailer. I was the kid that studied the encyclopedia to identify dog breeds. Caring for dogs in my home is more ideal for me than any other pet care field because it is such a positive situation compared to the sad or stressful situations of vets, animal shelters, etc. Typically pet parents are excited to go on vacation and their pups are excited to have their own vacation or have a fun day of Day Care. Pet sitting is perfect for me because I am home for my 11 and 14-year-old children and I can use all of my Pet Care experience to take care of your furry children. This is perfect for your pup because she gets to practice socializing with kids and other small dogs in a home/resort environment! Small dogs (25 lbs. or less) can come stay at my home and have their own vacation! I take small dogs only, for their safety and comfort and for our peace of mind. I have a central air conditioner and heater, cozy dog beds in the family room, as well as a large, fully-fenced yard with lots of grass and hillsides to race around! I have a 7-foot fence with Coyote Rollers on the top to keep coyotes and other critters out and dogs in. I have gopher wire against the fence, dug underneath the ground, to stop diggers. My yard is double-gated and the gates are padlocked. I have baby gates inside and five locks on my front doors. Your pup is safe and secure, but I also put my own tags with my own information on everyone, just in case! While you're away, I will send you plenty of beautiful pictures and videos. Why I like Rover: * Rover has Premium Insurance of up to $25,000 (after $250 deductible) to cover vet bills if something happens to a pup at a sitter's home. * Rover will dispatch people locally to help find a lost dog. * Rover has a whole database of local sitters as a backup in case your favorite sitter is booked or if a dog is not working out in one sitter's home. They will arrange for the dog to be taken to a new sitter. * The sitter is paid two days after you pick up. * You use a card and reserve the spot ahead of time. Rover guarantees it. * Rover is how I met you and my new furry friends. <3 Special Rates: Puppies and dogs that are not potty trained, that chew destructively on furniture like a puppy, that need to be fed more than two times per day, that need a potty break in the middle of the night, or that require medication start at $6 more per night. *No large/medium-dog puppies, please. *No uneutered dogs past 18 months old. *Puppies should have at least their second set of shots, including the Bordatella vaccine. * I apologize for any inconvenience, but I am no longer accepting Beagles and French Bulldogs. Special Charges: $20 Groomer Visit $40 Vet for vaccinations $20 Pick up dog food Up to $40 Convenience Fee if we arrange pickup outside normal pick up and drop off hours. Holiday Rates: A Holiday Rate of $6 more per pup per night or per visit will apply if their stay or visit includes one of Rover’s holiday time periods, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring Break, Easter, Cinco de Mayo/Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day, Halloween and Veterans Day. This rate may apply for up to a week surrounding the holiday. Christmas is $11 more per pup per night. We do special things for holidays, and for Christmas, we do even more special things. *For stays during Christmas: I will take drop-offs BEFORE 4:00pm on December 24 and pick-ups AFTER 10:30am on December 26. No Easter pick-ups or drop-offs available. Hours: My normal drop off hours are any time within 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and pick up hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, all BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. New and non-regular dogs must check in by 4:00pm to have enough time to adjust. Extended Care Rates: If the end time is scheduled 2-8 hours later than the start time on the first day, you will be charged an additional 50% of the daily rate. If the end time is scheduled 8+ hours later than the start time on the first day, you will be charged the full price of an extra day. Pets have always been my top career focus. Please contact me to schedule a Meet-N-Greet, where you can bring your pup to come check out my place and ask questions. My family and I would love for you to choose us and our home as your pup's vacation family/home.

Carrie is amazing! I'm so glad I took the time to do a meet & greet so that both of us were comfortable with my dog staying there. He's a loving but feisty Boston Terrier who needs some extra understanding of his quirks...Carrie got it and did a great job with him. Will definitely be booking with her again, thank you!

Carrie and her family take the best care of our sweet toy poodle! We trust her and she is our absolute first choice anytime we go out of town! Highly recommend 10/10!

Carrie was great! She communicates very well and took great care of our pup. Sadie loved being there and was so tired from having so much fun with Carrie. She also took many pictures of our pup having fun. Will be coming back again!

Carrie is wonderful and the environment she provides is excellent for our pup. She always goes beyond what is expected and we always appreciate her care for all her boarded dogs.

Safety, trust & environment

Most of the day, we are inside and outside. We'll sit inside and cuddle and do chores and we'll go outside and race around, play ball and take pictures. I'll give massages, kisses and belly rubs. When I have to pick up my kids or go to the store, pups will go in their crates and pens that they sleep in at night, so they are safe while I’m gone. At night, we'll watch TV together while I send pictures to you. We'll take a few more potty breaks before bed.

Information Carrie T. would like to know about your pet

Is your dog 25 pounds or less? Is she good with other dogs and kids? Any kind of aggression, other than on a leash? Has she ever bitten a person or other dog? She will be separate, but in the same room, from other dogs to eat and sleep. Most of the time she will be with the family and the other dogs in the family room and backyard, but can she handle a couple hours of confinement or does she bark constantly, pant, drool, or try to break out, like separation anxiety? I’d also love to know whether your dog is spayed or neutered, the breed, and age. *Any dogs not used to some kind of confinement at home will need a day of Day Care to make sure they’ll be happy in a pen or crate.

A typical day

There is so much room to run around and play in the backyard that we don’t do walks. I have lots of dog toys and balls and my kids will throw balls all day. There's lots of space in the backyard and in the family room for exercise and we use it! I also don't want to risk anything happening to your baby walking on leash, off property. I have no problem establishing myself as the pack leader without an extra walk. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: I have an extra bedroom with vinyl flooring and a tiled utility room that serve well as my canine suites. Each family of dogs is separated to eat and sleep by an exercise pen or a crate, if that's what they brought from home. These sleeping/eating arrangements are as such so that there are no arguments among friends in the middle of the night, if we have to leave the house for an errand or during mealtime. We also want them to be safe and not free-roam through the house with each other if we are not there. It is far too risky without these separate arrangements and I caution against any sitter who does otherwise. *No matter where they sleep, all dogs are confined like this at one point or another. *Any dogs not used to some kind of confinement at home will need a day of Day Care to make sure they’ll be happy in a pen or crate. Getting your dog used to small periods of confinement in your home in a den-like crate or a pen will help your dog gain independence, give your dog her own special respite and help smooth the transition into any sitter’s home. Time I'll spend with your dog: Most of the day, we are inside and outside. We'll sit inside and cuddle and do chores and we'll go outside and race around, play ball and take pictures. I am a full-time, at-home pet sitter. In some cases, the work is 24/7. Most of the day I am feeding, cleaning, photographing, taking in dogs, giving back dogs, editing and sending pictures. In the morning, I take the dogs outside to potty, inside for breakfast, outside for longer, then inside and outside throughout the day. They eat dinner around 6:00pm, while we eat. They go outside after dinner and inside and outside several more times before bed.
