Pet care experience

**Beginning August 30 I will not have any mid-day availability. Please get in touch if you would like further details or to talk about options!** Hi there! I have a dog of my own who I dote on and would love to share the love. Basic reasons to work with me: - I have watched dogs that weren't my own since 2010, but I grew up with a wonderful Jack Russell Terrier named Elvis, and have years of experience with all kinds of pups. I currently own a Welsh corgi with my fiance (who also loves dogs and may join me on a walk or two). I'm most experienced with small to medium dogs but I have no breed preference; I've watched dogs from toy poodles to pit bulls. As long as they're friendly, I'm happy! - I'm an efficient, accessible communicator who will send any and all updates, videos, photos of your pooch while you're away. No waiting for emails or texts from me. - I'll treat your dog like he or she is my own. So I'll follow your dog's lead: if he/she wants to play, we'll play; if he/she wants to snuggle, we'll snuggle. Your dog will be a happy camper while you're away because I know how to read dogs' signals and give them what they want and need. - I have experience with dogs with light medical needs - my own gets weekly allergy shots (administered at home) and daily oral medication. - I work part-time from home with an almost entirely flexible schedule (typically free 8:30am - 5:30pm weekdays). I'll work with you to figure out some times to come by and play with/walk your dog. You won't find me rushing away to get back to work - I set my own hours and will be fully devoted to your dog while I'm with him or her. Why I love dog-sitting: I've *always* been a dog lover. When I was 5 or 6 years old, I wouldn't stop begging my parents for a new puppy (much to their annoyance, I'm sure), and I thought I would grow up to be a vet - because it, of course, involved spending time with dogs. I didn't end up going down that path, but my love for dogs has never waned. When I was 7, my parents finally got a dog - a Jack Russell terrier named Elvis! I loved walking him, training him, and playing with him in the forest behind our house. He was incredibly spunky, and loved romping around in the snow and digging for rodents (and, of course, protecting us against squirrel invaders). Since Elvis, I've been thrilled to spend my time with other dogs as both a dog-sitter and, now, a dog owner. A story indicative of my love of dogs: one of the first dates my now-fiance took me on was to a Welsh corgi meet-up at Zilker Park with his (and now my) dog, Butters. 40-50 corgis of all ages ran around us and jumped up, wanting to be patted and snuggled. I almost laugh-cried a few times because I was so happy - especially when a little corgi puppy named Pancake waddled over to me and sat in my lap. #sorrynotsorry

Carrie was great! My little one is very picky when it comes to new friends, he immediately loved Carrie. She did a awesome job and sent me a bunch of photos of my happy boys. We will definitely use her again.

Carrie is a next-level dog person. Attentive and responsible, I'd trust her with my pets any day. She is a whiz at snapping photos of happy pups, and she is always easy to communicate with.

Carrie is great with all the puppers! She loves dogs, and is a very reliable and conscientious dog-sitter. I'm sure that if her corgi, Butters, could type, she would tell y'all that Carrie is the best dog-friend out there!

Information Carrie A. would like to know about your pet

Basics: - Any medical issues that would require my intervention (pills, shots, etc.) - Socialization or behavioral issues (e.g. does he/she dislike small children, cats, other dogs, etc.?) - Psychological issues (e.g. anxiety, separation issues) - Favorite toys, activities, walking routes, dog parks - Any additional relevant information about your dog's personality and interests In general, I'd love to get to know your dog before sitting and walking him or her. Knowing your dog's preferences for activities, treats, dog walk routes, and any other behavioral or personal quirks will ensure that I can give your dog the best care possible. I have no breed preferences, as long as they're friendly pups!

A typical day

SUMMARY: Overall, my approach is to follow your lead - you know what your dog loves to do best, and you know what your dog needs best. We'll talk together in advance of the first walk or visit to figure out an action plan for your dog(s), whether that includes long walks, dog park time, toy play, or just hanging out. ON WALKS: We'll explore your neighborhood for half an hour or so, depending on your dog's energy level - I certainly won't push a dog longer or farther than he/she can go. If a park is nearby, time to do some on-leash exploring and sniffing. If a dog park is nearby and your pup enjoys the company of other dogs... well, time to play and romp around, maybe with a ball or a toy! ON DAILY CHECK-INS: When I arrive, we'll spend a few minutes getting reacquainted with each other. Then we'll play at home with toys and games (assuming your dog is interested!), and there will be ample snuggle time and outdoors bathroom breaks as your dog needs or wants them. WHEN HOUSE/DOG-SITTING: *** NOTE: If your travel plans require that you return later than 4:00pm on your final day, please book an extra night so I can spend the full or half day taking care of your dog before you get back, and can be compensated for that full day of work. (e.g. if you leave at 9am on Monday and return at 6pm on Wednesday, please request THREE nights of dogsitting, rather than two). *** I tend to follow the owner's agenda when house or dog-sitting, as not to disrupt your pup's routine. I've written up a sample routine below that I've done on previous pet-sitting jobs, and would be happy to employ that or adjust as your dog requires. A typical day if I'm sitting at your place: - Morning bathroom/outdoors time (walk, dog park, etc.) - Breakfast as needed - Nap/indoor playtime as needed - Afternoon bathroom break/outdoors time (walk, dog park, etc.) - Nap/indoor playtime - Dinner as needed - Quick post-dinner bathroom break; indoor quiet time to wind down
