Pet care experience
** Fully vaccinated ** I have experience caring for pets with special needs, puppies and kittens, seniors, and anxious dogs. I am familiar and comfortable with preparing and administering medications in liquid, pill, or subcutaneous injection form, as well as puppy and kitten formula. I also have experience with managing diabetes in dogs and cats, administering blood glucose tests via an ear prick, calculating insulin dosage, and administering insulin. Should an accident occur, you can rest assured that your pet will get the help that they need quickly because I am trained in pet first aid. I can also do some training with your dog or cat (yes, cat!), trim cat and dog claws, bathe and brush your pets. I am currently a university student and first aid/CPR instructor. This leaves me with a lot of flexibility during the week (and even more on the weekend!) for pet care. I manage my studies proactively, so I can adjust my at-home study schedule to accommodate more work as needed. Safety is always my top priority. **Covid: I am fully vaccinated and boosted (proof available), and I always: (1) wear an ASTM level 3 medical mask when I am on your property and (2) wash or disinfect my hands before entering your house or touching your pet. I am also willing to comply with any additional safety measures at your request.** When I enter a home, I always open the door slowly to prevent a dog from darting out and I use a calm, non-threatening tone of voice and body language to greet them in order to help them feel safe with me. I keep my bag zipped closed and in a closet or behind a closed door at all times so that they can't get into anything potentially harmful, and (especially with cats and big dogs) I never leave anything on the counter for any length of time. When it comes to walks, I am not a fan of taking risks. Before I go anywhere with a dog, I make sure that I can control them and keep them safe in the space where I plan to go. If anything about the dog's behaviour or the environment becomes potentially dangerous, I simply remove them from the situation and go somewhere safer and calmer.
Reviews
Attentionnée. Notre chienne la tout de suite aimée tout comme nous.
I Will just mention one fact that should say everything: my pets weren’t provided fresh water under her care. Did not appreciate the « service » at all!
Amazing, attentive and loving to boozer!
Great first meeting:) Caroline instantly got my hesitant dog to love her.

Information Caroline J. would like to know about your pet
Medical information (conditions/illnesses, injuries, medication, allergies), any training that is ongoing (for consistency), any behavioural challenges (anxiety, aggression, past trauma), emergency information (vet contact info, any "car" considerations in the event that I need to drive them to the emergency vet clinic) Also information regarding their favourite toys, treats, games, etc.
A typical day
I love to provide fun and enriching experiences for your pets, while maintaining safety as my top priority. I do this by engaging them in safe and active play, practicing commands and skills, and introducing cognitive challenges like puzzles or scent games. I use positivity and reward-based training methods, which can involve praise, food, a favourite toy or an auditory cue like a clicker. I like to go for walks in parks and areas with lots of green space to explore! When it is safe and possible, I like to let a dog run off-leash and play fetch.
