Fur-ever loving & reliable dog mom!

Pet care experience

Hi there, my name is Carolina! I am a beginning culinary student, a dog owner, and an animal lover. I’ve been an Oakland resident for 20 years and enjoy walking, playing with, and taking care of all types of dogs. I will provide loving attention and care to your pets while you're away. As a dog owner myself, I'm very familiar with the needs and behavior of dogs and believe in the power of positive reinforcement. I will treat your dog like my own furry child. Full of love, compassion, and plenty of fun play/walks. I would love the opportunity to get to know different dogs and discover their personalities (and sweet unconditional love)! Caring for your pets will always be my #1 priority! Looking forward to connecting with your pooch soon!

It will be a huge mistake if you choose this sitter for your dog. Let me explain. We just got 8.5 weeks old Boston terrier puppy and had to be out of town. Since it is a puppy who can't be left alone for more than a few hours, I chose Carolina for house sitting our puppy as she promised that she will be at our place most of time to take care of her (I expressed my concern several times including the fact that we've left our puppy alone only 2 times for about 1-2 hrs. Carolina made sure through messages and verbally that our puppy will be taken good care of spending most of time with her). Our agreed time period for house sitting was 11:30am in the morning till 1-2 pm next day. She came to our house around 11:30am and we left around noon. We told her that our puppy can be fed around 1:30pm, and 7pm and our puppy is usually active after eating so a little bit of play time will be nice once in a while. We have a web cam on the exterior of our entrance door so we know who is at our door and receive a notification on our phone. She left our house right after 1pm and didn't return till 6:15pm. So our puppy was left alone for 5 hours, locked in a crate with no water, no walking, no bathroom time and no play time. When we had realized that Carolina left home very soon after us, we thought she might be back within a few hours which shouldn't be a problem. When she had been out for 3 hours, we started getting very concerned of our puppy, so I messaged her how everything is going and these were her replies: "Maui is doing great! She likes to cuddle a lot." Next message: "Are you ok with her being around the sofa or are you afraid she'll cause an accident?" We were extremely shocked by her dishonesty and making things up and pretending that she is at our home taking care of the puppy when she wasn't even there. At that point, it was very upsetting and we couldn't trust her anymore so we gave up our anniversary trip and drove back home. We returned home right after she got back to our place. We told her that we won't need her service anymore. I tried to let our puppy out of a crate but she won't come out for the longest time which was very unusual. She had very red eyes and our neighbor also reported us our puppy crying during the time the sitter was away. Apparently our puppy was under a lot of stress and anxious! And the sitter lying to us is very wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if the sitter would have left our puppy alone most of time during the night again and as well as the next day. She shouldn't have promised something she is not going to do just to get paid. I read other reviews and someone mentioned Carolina being responsive and being on time. Yes, we agree with that, but her attitude was not consistent when we were not around so we don't think she is a genuine person. Good sitters should know how to take care of puppies as well as the clients' requests they promised to deliver and if they can't, they shouldn't take the responsibility.

Carolina was very responsive and responsible. She was on time for her interview, kept me informed during my absence and left my house in great condition. I would highly recommend her.

Carolina has puppysat my dog several times now - she is excellent! I work in the ER (so odd hours) and there was a misunderstanding abouther being able to leave my dog before i got home - she stayed until 3 am bc she was worried about my dog! I was so impressed (and obviously felt terrible) - she is super professional, friendly, and my puppy loves her! highly recommend and will definitely be re-booking her!

Carolina took excellent care of our German Shepard dog, Rocky. She was very communicative, reliable and responsible. Rocky loved her! We got several updates and photos during her stay, which we really appreciated! Her professionalism mixed with personal approach allowed us to enjoy our trip. Would absolutely book her again as it's such a load off when I can trust someone with our dog!

Information Carolina Y. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preference. I prefer if your dog is not overly aggressive with other dogs and humans (especially if I take them to the park). It's always helpful to know if your pooch gets along with other dogs, how active they typically are, and of course any special directions for feeding or administering medication.
