Outdoorsy + Enthusiastic Caretaker

Pet care experience

I have been a dog owner my entire life and come from a family of animal lovers. I have worked with my own dogs to train them and to build trust and understanding, and am comfortable adapting my approach to fit the animal’s needs and the preferences of the pet’s family! I’m committed to competent care-taking informed by the animal’s needs. My experience: Worked as a pet sitter for the dogs, cats, and small animals like guinea pigs and hamsters of family friends for about 3 years; Volunteered as a caretaker for birds at the Minnesota Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for 1 year; Acted as a foster family for a dalmation/whippet mix for 2 months; Have been a dog-walker and pet-sitter with Rover since 2020.

Carolina has helped walk and feed my dog several times at this point, and they always do a wonderful job. They’re very responsible and I fully trust them with my Budders! :)

100% highly recommend. Carolina was both very kind and trustworthy from the get go. We first met for a meet and greet, and right from there, I felt comfortable enough with them to ask them to help with my dog for two bookings immediately. My dog, Buddy, is senior dog who is reactive and also takes medication. He’s the love of my life and requires extra care, so I don’t trust everyone with him. Carolina was patient and took the time to understand him and his needs. Buddy relaxed with them immediately and felt at ease during the meet and greet. They also were very communicative before and after each walk, and both went perfectly. :) I 100% plan to continue to ask Carolina for help with Buddy, and would highly recommend them to anyone. :)

Carolina is amazing! Our dog is new to us and we were nervous about leaving him for the evening, but Carolina did such a great job with him that we were quickly reassured. Would highly recommend’

Carolina was great with JuJu. I will definitely book her again and would recommend her to watch your pets. She took JuJu and played with her, gave her some great exercise and attention. Loved the pictures she sent and JuJu definitely looked happy!

Safety, trust & environment

My approach is to create a stable routine and clear boundaries for any pets in my care. I am adaptable for what the space demands and based on the animal’s familiarity with a situation, for example being in a new space versus being in their primary home. I am cautious and considerate about the disposition of the pet I’m in charge of, so I will always try to avoid putting them in a situation they are not comfortable with or that has too many variables for me to respond to safely.

Information Carolina J. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know your pet’s basic information like breed and disposition, and their typical interests and schedule so I know how to play with them and provide the best care. I’d also like to know if they like to be touched and where they like to be pet (ears, belly, butt, etc)!

A typical day

I love to do most activities that dogs like to do! Whether it involve water, woods, or whatnot, I can work it into a plan based on proximity. On trips out, we might encounter bikes or scooters so I ask to be told about any tendencies to chase or bark. I can throw frisbees, balls, and other toys, go to dog parks and open bodies of water, and improvise play with your dog! For more home body animals, I know how to chill out and keep them company, or let them explore around their area under supervision.

I’m happy to schedule visits and walks on certain weekdays and any weekend. I’m able to work remotely, but will need to plan around, which is why I request at least 3 days notice for any booking or change of plans. I am a big fan or midday and evening walks, and would be happy to have an animal companion with me for them!
