Highly experienced- work from home

Pet care experience

Hello! I'm an avid pet lover and animal activist. Until recently, I wrote a column about animal welfare in a monthly print magazine, lobby on capital hill for animal related legislation, have adopted many rescued pets, and use social marketing to highlight current animal issues/petitions and helped place animals in need of a home. I can host any species of animal you have (cats, horses and farm animals I would pay visits in their homes). I have owned and trained horses, dogs and birds for over 30 years-though I'm not a licensed trainer, and I have rescued-rehabilitated-released several wild animals-unofficially and am working on my wild animal rehabilitation certification. In recent years, I spent a month volunteering at a Thai elephant sanctuary where I was given an elephant (Nam Oi) to care for; cutting and gathering food, bathing each day, exercise and emotional support. I wrote a blog about my experience, found on my website. I have had 5 cats, 11 dogs, 12 birds (two were rescued Magpies that I rehabilitated and returned to the wild), 4 horses, chickens, 2 rats, 4 guinea pigs, 3 rabbits, lizards, Tarantulas and more at any given time during my life. I can deal with any animal, even those with health or behavioral issues. That said, I often care for 3 dogs at a time, including my little pug so it is necessary that your pup is socialized with other dogs. I am also able to help with special needs animals; having senior dogs in diapers, unable to go up/down stairs and a myriad of health issues taught me some helpful skills. I also adopted a senior yellow lab who was blind, deaf, arthritic and senile when she was abandoned in her old days, she flourished with me until she passed away at the grand old age of 16. I have a great deal of compassion for these old sweeties. I have several current clients that I give special help to, such as administer daily shots to for diabetes, and give daily pills for medical reasons, sit for hours to comfort anxiety, work on socialization for an aggressive/fearful pup, and carry arthritics/seniors up and down stairs so they may sleep with me. Finally, I adopted a rescued pug who will be my partner in tending to our guests, he loves all creatures great and small and only asks that he be treated with equally kind regard. There would be lot's of cuddles, treats, heart to heart discussions & some unofficial training. I work from home and am with your companion for approximately 20 hours a day, we go on leashed walks in nearby parks and jaunts around the neighborhood. I am well versed on dog diet/food etc... so please ask if you would like some guidance in that department. Lastly, I am a professional photographer and typically share several photos during your pet's stay. Thank you for finding me, I'm so excited to meet your furry-scaly-or feathered pal!

I felt totally comfortable having Maisie board with Carol. Carol kept in touch, sent videos, photos and updates on how things were going. She makes dogs immediately comfortable and is so well organized to deal with boarding a few dogs at a time. I can fully endorse and recommend her to anyone looking for a loving environment for their dog when OOT.

Very kind and kept me informed the entire time we were away. Gave some good recommendations too based on some observations she had seen.

I'd like to say boarding my dog with Carol sucks so I wouldn't have to share her with other dog owners, but that isn't reality. Boarding your dog with Carol is wonderful for your dog and for your sense of dog security & dog happiness. Carol's dog boarding is so good you will be jealous of your dog, even while you are on a fun vacation! My dog loves Carol and didn't want to leave her side.

Carol is the best. My little dog can be skittish around new people, but he took to Carol immediately and was on her lap giving kisses. I would highly recommend her. She’s very responsive and sends lots of comforting photos and videos. Our trip was made so much easier knowing that our dog was comfortable and in such great care.

I treat my furry guests as if they are part of my family, they have free reign and receive copious attention (if that's what they want). I don't charge for more intensive care such as working with anxious dogs or administering shots/medications etc... but I do ask for compensation if your dog has multiple accidents in the house or requires more hands on care due to aggressive behavioral issues.

Day care hours: Earliest time for drop off: 8:30, latest time for pick up: 6pm. If you need time outside these hours, please ask. Also, as pet sitting is not my main source of income, I cannot commit to weekly repeat daycare. Overnight rate covers a 24 hour period. There is a three hour window for pick up, after which an additional day rate ($30) is added . I require that dog parents bring washable or disposable belly bands (diapers) to avoid marking carpets and furniture for pups that have a tendency to mark. Because I care for many dogs, their smells abound within the house which always (and I mean always) prompts even the best potty trained pups out there to mark. If your puppy is just over a year old, I ask that you also bring diapers, the smells confuse them and they forget everything they learned with potty training! At least for the first day or two, we work on it and usually they tend to get over going potty inside quickly.

A typical day

We play in my large back yard, walk around the neighborhood, take car trips to the dog park in good weather. Many days I have multiple dogs which turns my back yard into an unofficial dog park. My dog guests usually go home pretty happy and exhausted which makes their parents happy too! My profile displays an erroneous percentage for taking photos, I take photos and videos of 100% of my furry guests, I typically send via text because Rover does not allow sharing of videos.
