I like dogs more than people :-)

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Carol and I love dogs, but unfortunately cannot support one of my own. I frequently watch my friends’ dogs - I love that I’m helping them out while low-key renting a fur baby. I trained my childhood dog, Lady (the chunky yellow lab mix, pictured above), to walk off the leash with me, to poo outdoors, and basic table manners. While I do not have any degree or certification for working with animals, I’ve learned so much by raising one. I’m especially sympathetic towards aggressive and/or shy pups that had a rough past. I firmly believe that all dogs are good dogs as long as they have good humans. I am very flexible and appreciate good communication. I’ll go out of my way to make your life easier. I just moved to Austin, so I have a flexible schedule that can be easily accommodated to your requests. Thank you for your consideration and please contact me with any questions! **UPDATE** As of March 2020, I am accepting dog boarding requests in my home. However, if you prefer that I keep your pup in my house, he or she MUST be good with cats, meaning that they do not have a high prey drive and are not aggressive. Please contact me if you have any questions, and I look forward to meeting your pups! :)

Carol is the best! We always know the pups are in good hands when Carol is with them. Could not recommend more highly.

I’ve booked Carol twice for my two doodles and she’s taken great care of them, including giving medication to my older dog and tolerating my crazy puppy. Great communication and helpful updates on how they ate.

Carol was great with my cat Olive while I was out of town! She was very communicative and sent pictures. I’ll definitely book with her again in the future?

Information Carol D. would like to know about your pet

I do not have a breed preference. I just need to know if the dog is more aggressive towards others than usual. As I stated before, all dogs are good dogs, but not all have been lucky enough to have always interacted with good humans. I love rescues and am very sensitive to their specific needs. Aggression and shyness will never deter me from watching your dog. Due to my experience, I am always on the defensive while encountering other dogs on walks (because you never know), but it does help me to know what I’m working with.

A typical day

I LOVE walks, especially if there’s a nearby park or trail. I opt for longer walks, so let me know the average time you walk your dog each day and I’ll accommodate that. I also enjoy running, so I’d be happy to take your dog on a jog if that’s what he or she is used to. For long-term house sitting, walks, or drop in requests, I’m more than happy to take your dog with me to patio restaurants, parks and greenways that are not walkable from your home, or anything that your dog is used to doing while you’re away. But I would never travel with your dog without your approval.
