Pet care experience
Thank you for considering me to care for your beloved pet. I've had dogs my entire life, with the exception of the last 18 months when Halo was the last to cross the rainbow bridge. I'll share with you a bit about them, as I think you'll have a better idea/feeling for who I am, through them. I moved to KW from Vancouver BC 17 years ago. Once settled here, I adopted Eba from Stratford Humane Society. She was a former puppy mill dog and came with the understandable issues arising from that history. She was also with myself and two young children for almost 12 years. She's in almost every picture they have of growing up. She loved sleeping under blankets and cuddling with her kids. After she passed, we decided to become a foster home for dogs arriving from Costa Rica. With a solid understanding of decompression and slow introductions to everything, two dogs found their forever homes in Ontario because we fostered. Our 3rd foster was a foster fail in the first 24 hours lol. Buddy J arrived from CR post surgery for a broken leg and pelvis, and we were immediately smitten with him. My home is without any stairs, and a convenient side door exit for house training as Buddy was approx 3yrs old, but had never lived inside before. Tragically Buddy J was only with us for 6 months before we said our sad goodbyes due to complications from his previous injuries. Nothing medically was spared to find a cure for him, but we were unable to fix him. This was a month before pandemic began. For 6 months we took in a neighbors dog daily for doggie Daycare, as his Mom was a Healthcare provider and was working very long hours. Then we adopted Halo. She was a 10yo blind senior rescue from KY. She was with us for over 2 years and was well known as a neighborhood 'house hippo' who loved everyone she met. I'm now somewhat of an empty nester ( older teens are here for meals), who is home all day, and is quickly becoming known as the go-to for dog boarding, daycare and daily walks. I never have more then your dog(s) at my home, and I will send pictures throughout the day of our adventures. I adore having a walking companion and will kindly and lovingly treat your doggo as my own. Thank you for reading this, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you and your dog!

Carmen and I had a Meet & Greet in her home first, so I could make sure my furbabes would have a comfy place to stay....her home is warm and clean and in a great location for walkies. Then we had a second M&G so Carmen could meet Tia & Tabi; I could tell almost immediately that they would all get along. Carmen is very caring, experienced, and was wonderful at keeping me updated daily with photos and videos. As most Pet Parents, I love my two littles and would never leave them with someone I didn't trust. Up to this getaway, when I had to travel in the past, Tia & Tabi always stayed with my Mother....but I had 100% peace of mind leaving them with Carmen, no worries at all, and could focus my time and attention on my visit with family out West. If you are looking to board your four-legged family member with someone reliable, caring, experienced, and loving, I HIGHLY recommend Carmen.

I'm blown away with the amazing care my little Grizzy recieved from Carmen. I'm a first time dog mom and very attached to my little guy who can be pretty anxious but the whole time Carmen sent the sweetest pictures and videos to reassure me Grizzly was having a wonderful and relaxing, fun time. She brought my little dude on sooo many walks and was so attentive to him and his specific needs. This was my first time leaving my dog with a dog sitter and will be sure to recommend Carmen and reach out to her again as I know Grizzy absolutely loves her❤️.

Carmen was absolutely amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better home away from home for our anxious rescue pup Max. We appreciated that Carmen made time for a meet and greet in her home prior to our trip to meet our pup and introduce him to her space. She goes above and beyond to make sure pets in her care have time to decompress and get comfortable. Max quickly warmed up to her, and we could enjoy our vacation knowing he was having a great time and being well cared for. Carmen sent pictures or videos everyday showing Max playing, relaxing, going for walks - living his best life! I know if we need a sitter again Max will greet her with a waggy tail. Thank you Carmen!!

Carmen was so lovely to work with, and our cat loved her and her place! This was our first time boarding our cat in years, and as she's just started taking medication, but Carmen was able to not only handle our cat's medication needs, but also provide her with all the things that made her feel cozy (a cat bed, a cardboard box, beautiful windows, and toys!). Carmen will be our go-to cat sitter from now on, we feel so comfortable with her and the car she provided our kitty. I cannot recommend her enough!

I live in a very clean, non smoking and large sized apartment. I have a few different sizes of dog beds available for every room, but am also okay with dogs on beds and sofas ( only if you allow that as well). I'll reinforce the training and systems you currently have in place to mirror your dogs home environment as much as possible. Currently a pet-free home so reactive or resource guarding dogs will find a safe place here. I do have a medium sized kennel as well, if kennel is requested.

Information Carmen B. would like to know about your pet
I do positive reinforcement training so what motivation works best for your dog? A high value treat? A special toy? Pets and praise? Have they ever been reactive to another dog or person? Prey drive while walking? I won't do any off-leash play or exercise outside, nor will I do leashed interactions with other unknown dogs. Your dog may act differently with me, and safety and trust are absolutely top priority for me.
A typical day
'A tired dog is a happy dog', and I believe that mental stimulus is as important as physical. That said, a typical day could include several long walks with ample opportunities to sniff the neighborhood, snuffle mats, puzzle board, cuddles and a hair brush ( if enjoyed by the dog).

I'm early retired, and am home all day. I'm able to walk, frequent outside breaks, feed and provide medication ( as required). My schedule is completely flexible.
