Pet care experience

*Please note: I require a meet & greet for new clients :) Hi! I’ve been a petsitter with Rover since Fall 2017, and a lover of animals since babyhood (with photos to prove it!). I’m currently in school to become a dog trainer. I sometimes enlist the help of my husband, who also loves animals. We have no pets of our own or any children yet (that’s what my headline means) and can board small to medium dogs (and cats!) in our 1200sqft house in a quiet neighborhood. I grew up with a Havanese and trained her to roll over, jump, jump through, stand, and speak on command. I was friends with all the dogs in my neighborhood and enjoyed playing with them on walks. I’m comfortable giving dogs medication, brushing them, accomodating any feeding quirks, reinforcing any training you’ve given them, and of course giving them lots of affection and attention. Well, that’s the most fun part obviously! I would love to meet and hang out with your pup, send you pictures of them having fun or chilling, and make your life easier!

Carlee H. is by far the best sitter that I've had the pleasure of leaving my pets with. She really, really cares. She is kind, professional and considerate. I can tell that my babies love spending time with her and Justin. This makes me leaving them so much easier! I am still so impressed with her attention to detail in providing DAILY reports about what they are doing, have done etc. She also sends many photos and videos, which I think is very considerate. Triton, Nova and I are so grateful! Thank you Carlee and Justin!

Felix was happy to hang with Carlee - she is a great communicator and I didn’t have any concerns while he was with her!

Carlee is absolutely AMAZING!! She really took care of my pups like there were her own! Both her and Justin make a great team! I received a FULL REPORT with photos and videos EVERY DAY! She really put me at ease, given the length of time that I had to be away and the distance. She is the ultimate professional and the gold standard for pet sitting services. Thank you so much Carlee & Justin, I'll definitely be using your services again! :-)

Thank you Carlee for taking such great care of Triton and Nova Ray. They absolutely loved their sleep over. You are a true professional and I can tell that you have a real passion for caring for dogs. Receiving detailed updates accompanied by photos of what they were up to and how they were settling in, made me feel so at ease. Will definitely be using your services again!

Safety, trust & environment

I follow the notes I take during our meet & greet, or notes that owners provide for me. I am very careful not to let pets escape out the door. I have a calm personality and that usually helps comfort anxious pets. I read body language to know when a pet is uncomfortable or wants space, or wants playtime or affection.

Information Carlee H. would like to know about your pet

At meet & greets, I like to know details of each pet’s routine; when they wake up, when they go out to potty, if they get long walks or short walks, if anything on their walk makes them nervous so I can avoid it, how many poops per day is normal, when and how much they eat, if they take medications, what their favorite toys are, what spots they like or do not like to be petted. I like to know what their relationship is with the other pets in the house if applicable, and if certain people (children, men/women, etc) make them uncomfortable or reactive.

A typical day

I try to follow each pet’s routine as closely as possible because that helps to reduce transition stress. We enjoy playing chase, fetch, tug, and giving lots of ear scratches and belly rubs if requested by the pet. I also use vocabulary words that their owners use (‘outside’ vs. ‘go potty’, ‘dinner time’ vs. ‘food’ etc). On walks, I avoid other pets just to be safe, and in the summer heat I walk dogs in shaded, grassy areas as much as possible.

I am available from 10am—9:00pm and can accommodate dogs up to 50lbs, sometimes more, on walks. I am happy to let bigger dogs out into a fenced backyard. (I’m 5’1” so they tend to be strong enough to pull me off my feet above 45lbs if they pull hard but some bigger dogs don’t pull.)
