Pet care experience
*Note: I do work full time, but am usually available evenings (after 6pm) Dogs have been a part of my life since I was 7 years old. Growing up I had a Pomeranian and a Labrador, Nala and Blondie. When I lived in South Korea I volunteered with rescue shelters, fostered dogs in my apartment, and adopted my senior Pom, Cielo, and brought her back to the U.S. She was a special needs dog that required hernia surgery (twice!), had an enlarged heart, a persistent cough, and was psychologically traumatized from neglect/abuse. After one year and moving back to the States, she was a totally different dog. Her personality shined through. Just goes to show what love and patience can do! After I moved back to the U.S. I started volunteering again with animal rescue and fostered dogs. I moved to D.C. this past winter and -though I've had to considerably cut back my volunteering -have fostered a great friendship with my next door neighbor, to the extent that I housesit and dogsit for her, as well. Additionally, growing up I was always the babysitter and housesitter in my family's group of friends. I am known for being trustworthy, reliable, and communicative.
Reviews
We enlisted Carla for the first time to look after our older rescue dog for three nights and highly recommend her. She was caring, attentive and understanding of his special needs, and she kept us updated regularly throughout her stay. Will definitely hire her again.
Carla is amazing - she saved my week of travel after another dog watcher cancelled on me last minute. That evening, after this person cancelled, she was over just 2 hours later to meet my dogs, as I was departing the next day. My dogs loved her - she sent me pictures while I was gone, and I had zero stress knowing my dogs were in great hands. Carla is a very nice person who was very accommodating to my travel schedule, and I look forward to having her dog sit again! Her professionalism, dog care, house care, communication -- everything was 5/5 stars with Carla -- HIGHLY recommended.
Carla is by far the most caring person I've met on Rover! Already booked 3 more stays!
Carla, our friend, was dog / house sitting when we were away for 2 weeks. She had a rescue Pomeranian with her and her name was Lolo : Lolo was our little boy's best friend (sadly they are nolonger with us...). So she had to take care of 4 babies - we had 3 rescued ones and Carla had one. She is a huge dog lover and volunteered / fostering dog rescue group in Korea. So she knows exactly what to do. She had a big heart. Since our furbabies were all rescued and had lots of trust issue as well as health issue but we knew they were in a good hand. She updated us with photos very often and when we were back we could tell our babies had fun with Carla and Lolo. Now we live in a different states so sometimes I wish we lived very close cause she ia the best dog sitter ever!!!!! If anybody is looking for a great dog sitter Carla is the best choice for you.

Information Carla B. would like to know about your pet
I definitely like to know if there are certain quirks to the dog (especially if they are health-related, as it could mean the difference between an urgent visit to the vet or not). Dogs have their own individual personalities, and so it is important to take note what makes them special. For example. one of my parent's Labradors is obsessed with toys, so we make sure to keep toys hidden unless it's playtime (otherwise she focuses more on the toy and less on being vigilant in the house). I do not have breed preferences, but I have direct experience (through owning/fostering) with Pomeranians, Labradors, Mini Schnauzers, Chihuahuas, and Shih Tzus.
A typical day
Walks depend on what is located in the neighborhood of the owner. I usually like to ask the owner their preferences, so that I may follow their wishes. All dogs and dog owners are different: some have dogs that like to play with balls/frisbees and other toys during a walk to a park, others just like to do a walk around the block and go back home. I am adaptable to all styles.
