Helping animals is what I am most passionate about. I worked for a non-profit animal shelter as their Animal Care Supervisor for four years. I also have five years of professional experience as a dog training instructor and previously volunteered with an animal control facility. I’m now devoted full time to taking care of my best friends (my furry clients) while their parents are at work or away from home. I provide walking, play time, feeding, and medicating for pets. While you're away, I will make sure your pet is happy, healthy, and safe. Caring for animals is what I love to do.

We knew immediately that Carissa would be an amazing dog walker. Our dog, who is a rescue and nervous with new people, went to her right away, wagging her tail, and wanting Carissa to pet her. Even on the first visit, Carissa shared knowledge with us about our dog and was professional and kind. We are so excited to have found her!
Carissa, was an amazing sitter for us. She sent daily photos and went outbid her way to help keep our fur child happy and safe. We’ll definitely be having her watch him again :)

When I check on the pets in the owners home, I make sure they are secure when leaving and that their walking tools-harnesses, collars, leashes-are fit securely when bringing them out.

I like to schedule a meet and greet before the first visit. It’s beneficial having the owners excepting the new person in the home. I like to know a little bit about their personality. Is your dog shy or outgoing? What is their energy level? How do they interact with strangers on the walk, in the home? Children, other dogs, small animals, cars/trucks? Do they have any resource guarding with food or toys? Do they have any handling issues, like not liking their feet touched? What type of gear do you use to walk them? Are they an escape artist? Do they have any food allergies or medical conditions? What is their favorite activity or toy?
A typical day
During a walk, we will have plenty of sniffs-how your pup explores their world-around your neighborhood and enjoy some fresh air and exercise. If your pup loves nothing more than playing fetch in the yard, or snuggles and belly rubs, we can tailor the visit to be the best for them. I always like to follow the owners training plan. If you’re working on jumping or leash pulling, for example, we will practice during the visit. If you are interested in training a new command, I would love to help you.

Availability
I work full time providing animal care for clients. I book recurring weekly walks Monday through Friday that will reserve the day and time for you. I also provide occasional requests Monday through Friday that I can accommodate into my schedule on a first requested basis.
