Our Home is Better than the Kennel

Pet care experience

We are a family of five; we are all dog lovers. We have always had amazing dogs, and we absolutely adore providing their happy place. We are a dog rescue family; we especially appreciate those who help find loving homes for dogs who need them. Additionally, we believe that dogs fare better in homes than in kennels. We recently went through the extremely tough loss of both of our elderly dogs. We will always remember our beloved Meryl and Lily by sharing our love for dogs and taking good care of all dogs who come to our home. We recently adopted puppies, so we have an active house these days! Our puppies are fun and playful! They enjoy meeting other dogs, and they are open to meeting your furry family member! We always treat our dogs and others as family members. They are given lots of attention, respect, and snuggles. That said, we want to make sure all the dogs get along, so a meet and greet is essential! I have a flexible work schedule which allows me work from home. In fact, there is someone home almost every hour at our house. We also have a doggy door which allows pets full access to our large fenced-in yard. We have lots of happy repeat visitors! A Few Notes: Please make sure your dog is fully house-trained! Puppies and high energy dogs are extra work, so please be up front about what your dog needs on a daily basis (do you walk them three times a day, play fetch, etc.) We ask that you bring your dog at the appropriate time to adjust and feel comfortable in our home (this means no arrival after 9 pm or prior to 9 am) Exceptions can be made of course, but this is our general rule. Additionally, we require that each night booked is representative of roughly a 24 hour period (meaning a drop-off at 9 am, and a pick up at 9 pm the following day is actually a 2 night stay.) We find that meeting a dog before a stay is absolutely the right way to find the perfect fit! Thank you for reading all this! We hope to meet you!!

Sammy had another wonderful stay with Cara and her lovely family. We are happy to have found someone whom we know takes such loving care of our special guy while we are away. Thanks again!

This is my second time bringing Fenway to Cara's, she is absolutely wonderful. As soon as we pulled up in front of the house, Fenways tail started wagging away. He love's staying there (I am guessing they spoil him as much as we do) The entire family treats Fenway as if he was one of their own, which is so important to me. I will definitely be bringing him back to Cara's.

Information Cara P. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know in advance if your dog will require medication or care for any special circumstances: in heat, cone, special circumstances. Additionally, please let me know if your dog is anxious or highly active. I have had dogs come to stay who require 3 1-hour walks per day, or special circumstances that have been a surprise to me. Your dog and I will be much more comfortable if there are no surprises!

A typical day

The dogs can let themselves in and out through the doggy door. I do most of my work from home, so there is someone in the house most of the time. I will take the dogs on walks as well.
