Pet care experience

I may use the term "we" throughout this bio from time to time, and that is because my partner Jared has been on this journey with me as well, since we started boarding and doing doggie day care from our home last year. Lucky for me, he has enjoyed it just as much as I have, and he has been great back up helping me accommadate clients and their pets. Providing services for your pets is my full time job, but I also teach Judo and Jujitsu from time to time at my family's martial arts school in Denham Springs. Being that I have extensive knowledge about pet health from my years as a vet tech, I can assure your furry friends will receive the highest level of care. If there are any health problems that arise while under my care, I will be able to spot and address them properly with your permission, or if the situation calls for it, bring them to a veterinarian of your choice. As far as my personal experience with animals, my whole life has revolved around them for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest childhood memories involve trying to tame any of the stray animals I could find. I would spend months if that's what it took, earning an animals trust. More often than not, and usually to my parents dismay, I was successful in my endeavors, and we would suddenly have an addition to our family 😂 Between doing that as a child, volunteering with animal rescues, studying animal training and behavior, and working with a wide variety of animals at the vet clinic, I have really developed a knack for figuring out and adapting to how each individual animal communicates their feelings, wants, and needs. Animals, like humans, come with a wide variety of personalities, and I feel that the effort I put into learning those unique personalities so I can accomadate each individual accordingly, sets me apart from others in my line of work. I absolutely love what I do, and I think my clients would agree that is abundantly clear. To me, my job is to be the friend your pet is happy to see, to minimize their stress while you're away, and to make them as comfortable as possible. I know that's what I'd want from someone who was helping care for my animals. For potential boarding clients and doggie daycare: I have a fenced in yard with a doggie play ground, and multiple places for my dog friends to lounge around the house. We have a large indoor play room for rainy days. We also have a room with custom built, luxury sized kennels, in case there is a need to use one, but we prefer to keep our boarders where we are if possible! Every critter we care for gets treated like our own, and they all get top of the line care and plenty of affection during their stay. There are also plenty of toys available to play with, for those who can play nice and share. Sometimes we have to put up the toys, if someone's being greedy 🙃 We take pride in the fact though that most of our clients dogs go home exhausted from all the fun and play time! Not all dogs get along with others, but luckily that isn't an obstacle too difficult to overcome, depending on how many bookings we have at the time. We have multiple dog friendly areas that we can rotate them to throughout the day, keeping them stimulated without having to interact with other animals during their visit. Whether you need a dog walker, drop in visits, or would prefer to board somewhere, I'm your girl! If you would like to board your pup, I do like to get them in for an evaluation, or "trial run" before their stay. That also allows me to introduce them to the new environment they will soon be spending time in. Send me a message if you are interested in my services, or in scheduling a meet and greet! I do this full time, so I am almost always present at home spending all my time with my furry visitors! Starting in July, I will be teaching martial arts classes at my family's school in Watson on Mondays and Wednesday evenings. This means I will be leaving home at 5pm and returning around 8 or 830. My partner does work full time, but he is always home before I leave to teach, and is very experienced with taking care of the fur babies while I'm away for those 3 hours at night those 2 days of the week. He has been helping me for 4 years now and i've never met a dog that didn't love him, so they are definitely in good hands. The first thing I do is identify which of 3 "groups" your dog would fit in best with bases on their energy level, personality, and preferences. Group A is lower energy dogs Group B is higher energy dogs Group C are floaters, they have good manners, understand dog boundaries with others, and can adjust to the energy levels of the dogs around them. I try to let everyone just so whatever it is they prefer to do the most, whether that be playing, or lounging. If a dog likes to play with high energy dogs but can also coexsist with the senior dogs and anxious dogs in group A, then they can hangout in the general areas of the house. High energy dogs, typically young dogs and large breeds, go in between the play room and the playground out back. I have a large fenced in yard, with concrete around the bottom of the fence. The fence is very sturdy chain link and is 6ft high on 3/4 sides. The back of the fence is a bit shorter, but there is a ton of brush and a very deep ditch behind it. Its not impossible to get over for a very determined/unusually athletic dog, but In 4 years here only one dog has ever done so. (I was watching when it happened so no problem there, fortunately.) I keep cameras in the playroom and outside, so I can always peek in and see what the pups are up to if I'm in another area of the home. For example, often times I will let them out to play before dinner while I clean up the play room if need be and prepare everyone's meals. The play room also has a glass door with a curtain and is attached to my kitchen, so I can see them anytime. As a preventative measure to prevent fleas from gaining a foothold, I have the house and yard treated by a professional pest control services every 3 months with what should make it impossible for them to reproduce here. I also keep my pets on monthly prevention. I ask that you please make sure your furry friend has prevention before their stay. Fleas can travel on dogs that have prevention, they just can't sustain themselves, so please take the necessary precautions and protect your dog from those pesky critters.

I really wanted to have Caitlin as my FURever sitter, but no thank you. The other negative reviews seem legit and I should’ve took them into consideration, but I just looked at the ratings instead.. my fault. The first few times I used Caitlin, my dogs were so ecstatic to see her! So these were all good signs right? But as more stays were booked I noticed a lot of my items that were sent with my dogs were not returned to me. My dog food container, my dog scoop, my dog bowl, my dogs leash.. I’ve read in other reviews that leashes were getting mixed up.. it’s been a week since I’ve heard back about my dogs stay which I have now canceled. I read other reviews say they received pictures but out of all the stays I’ve booked, I’ve only received 1 picture. It’s really hard to try to contact Caitlin as well. She responds days-weeks later. I have Rovers message to contact, her personal cell (does not work), and her significant others cell… also doesn’t work. Every time my dogs came back home, they would rush to the water bowl… also it’s listed in her info that it’s a non-smoking household, but the last stay that was booked, they came home smelling like cigarettes…. There’s other negative things to say but I think I’ll just keep it here….. Sorry.

Don’t let the 5 stars and the rave reviews fool you! I should have known when I tried messaging her several times on Rover prior to my dogs’ stay, and it was nearly impossible to get a response. There are a few bad reviews and I should have paid more attention to those. I am so disappointed. The description in Caitlin’s bio made her home sound like doggie paradise. I felt very confident that she would be “the one” for my pups whenever we went away. We moved two years ago and my previous sitter was too far so I have been trying to find a good reliable sitter since. We left to go out of town very early so I had my daughter drop them off mid-morning. I had not heard anything from Caitlin so I messaged to see how things were going. She didn’t respond until nearly 24 hours later saying they were doing great and a brief update on each of them. Tried messaging her two days later after not receiving any updates or photos, and did not get a response until the morning I was to pick them up - 3 DAYS LATER - (and only because I sent a message directly to her cell phone) saying everything is great and giving an excuse that her phone has been “really struggling lately”. I’ve had sitters in the past and have always gotten at least daily updates, and photos and video. Caitlin had 94 reviews, mostly great, 5 stars, and many of the reviews stated that they received numerous pics and daily updates throughout their dog’s stay. I did not receive a single update without prompting, and even then, only one. I didn’t receive a single photo or video until after I sent a message directly to her cell phone because she wasn’t responding through Rover, the morning I was to pick them up (it was a 7 day/6 night stay), and it was a terrible photo of ONE of my two dogs with 3 other dogs. I had asked about having them bathed and a nail clip prior to pickup, and she offered to do that free of charge. When I went to pick them up I was shocked at how this home looked. The grass out front was about waist high, and I couldn’t see in the back yard because of all of the junk in the carport area. Had I been the one to drop them off, I probably would have turned around and left. I was never invited into the home and can only imagine what it was like inside. Also, on the morning I was to pick them up, she asked for a description of their leashes because she couldn’t find them. When she finally brought my dogs out, they were on someone else’s leashes. She said she probably sent their leashes home with someone else accidentally. She told me to keep these and when she found theirs she would let me know and I could come get them. I gave the leashes back, however, so that the next person would have theirs when they arrived to pick up their dogs. It’s been a week and I haven’t heard anything. One of my dogs, the one that was not in the photo, ran into the house when we got home and literally drank two full bowls of water. My Bulldog came home with a terrible rash on her belly. Both had terrible gas and it smelled as though they had been fed something other than their own food. The gas lasted about 2 days and was awful! One of my dogs had severe diarrhea in her crate during the first night home which has never happened before. Neither of my dogs are themselves. They are very sluggish and almost seem depressed. It took several days for them to recover. I do not trust that they were well cared for at all - in fact, I feel like they were probably neglected terribly for an entire week. I am sick over it. I also messaged to ask her if she had fed them something other than their food because of the gas and diarrhea, and she never responded. I don’t understand how in the world she has 5 stars and 90+ rave reviews. I have never had such an awful experience with a pet sitter before, and will never leave them there again.

My dog enjoyed his “vacay” at Caitlyn’s. I am not even sure he missed us! She is very caring and sweet. Definitely will use again!

Caitlin is a genuine fur babies lover. I dropped off my pups and she tried to calm them down and get to know them. She even brought them treats! I didn’t receive any pictures , but I did receive updates. My pups came back home itch free too! Thank goodness..! I’ll definitely be contacting Caitlin for future doggycare.

Some common questions I ask outside of rovers profile questions 1.Is your dog current on flea prevention 2.How would you rate your dogs temperament when meeting new dogs, are they submissive, neutral, or more dominant in personality? 3. Is your dog a runner? Do they look for an opportunity to bolt out of doors when someone is walking in and out? 4. Is your dog an escape artist? My back yard is pretty heavily fortified with concrete around the bottom of the fence, but there are some dogs that are very determined to find a way out. 5.Does your dog crate at night or when you're away? 6.Does your dog have any allergies, including food allergies like chicken. 7. Does your dog have general, or serperation anxiety? 8. What group would your dog fit in best with Group A-adult and senior dogs, can be any age though if they have doggie manners and understand bounadaries so as not to disturb the seniors and more anxious visitors Group B- high energy, typically younger and typically larger breed. These dogs prefer a good romp over a cuddle session. Group C- these dogs are floaters, and they can go in-between groups A and B with no problem. They enjoy running and playing with other dogs, but also know how to adjust to the energy of the room and those around them.

A typical day

We have multiple pieces of playground equipment outside in the back yard, including a doggie pool, a tug of war pole (flexi, in the ground), ramps, platforms, ball pit, tire tunnel, teeter totter, merry go round, agility poles, and jumps, and also various sand pits for digging. I enjoy taking the dogs through some of the agility equipment sometimes and they seem to love it too! L The back porch is covered and gated with heavy duty fans, and is used for rainy days so no one has to get muddy. Energetic playful dogs typically go in between the indoor play room and the playground. The play room has 2 doggie couches, plenty of toys, and a TV that's always on to help make them comfortable. If your dog is older, or wouldn't enjoy being with more energetic dogs, they spend their time in the general areas of the house, which includes my "comfy room" that is almost entirely comprises of soft comfy places to lounge around. I typically sleep in the comfy room with them, since it's also near the play room, so I can be aware if anyone ever needs anything, even in the middle of the night.
