I have grown up with always having a dog in my life and had parents that instilled responsibility that came along with it. I have watched and been responsible for friends and neighbors dogs when a helping hand is needed. My up bringing with always having a dog was that they are not just an animal but another member of the family and have to be treated as such. I have been very lucky to have had grown up with amazing dogs. 9 yrs ago I rescued a beautiful greyhound that used to race in Florida. She had never been inside a home. The day she was brought home she needed to be taught everything! Stairs, Windows, glass sliding doors, furniture, a yard, trust, and having her own toys and bed. This taught me so much on how to relate to the dog and learn how they see life. Sadly she passed after a long happy spoiled life and I currently have another greyhound Anita and she is again ..spoiled...but I won't say rotten because she is a true love. :) During the week my husband and I both work but have a wonderful arrangement with my father who is our doggie day care. He picks up our sweet girl every day so she isn't home alone and then we pick her up after work. On the weekends we plan most of our activities to include her or we lounge around with her at home. She is a greyhound so she loves to hang around on the couch! I have a big fenced in yard and live on a dead end street with a large quiet neighborhood to have walks. My greyhound is very laid back and hasn't met a person or a dog she hasn't liked. My home is spacious and comfortable and your pup will have a calm happy environment to move around freely.
