U of M Vet Student

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m a first year veterinary student looking for part time work during school. I have experience as a vet assistant at private practices and emergency hospitals and have grown up around cats and dogs of all sizes. A lot of my time as a vet assistant is/was spent in hospitalized patient care where I would walk dogs, clean kennels, feed cats and dogs, administer medications, and bathe inpatients when necessary. I have also been a pet sitter on similar platforms in the past, volunteered at local animal shelters, and worked as an animal caretaker at board and train facilities providing consistent care to multiple dogs at a time. I am reliable, trustworthy, and flexible and look forward to meeting you and your pet. If you have any specific requests, let me know! If I’m not at work, I’m likely on the go walking dogs or pet sitting. For clients homes, if they are away, I’d typically do 2-4 drop ins a day depending on the clients needs. Morning feeding and let out, a walk around noon + lunch time feeding if required, dinner feeding and let out, and then a final let out in the evening. For dog walks, typically clients will let me know their usual trails to follow or loops to go on but if not, I love exploring new trails and neighborhoods. There are so many good walking paths in the area.

I don’t provide care for other pets in my home but I’ve been entrusted with the care of 25-40 dogs at a time while working at a variety of board and train facilities. Dogs were of different ages, behaviors, and personalities and I was successful in ensuring they received the best care while under my watch. At home, I have a spoiled cat (and a long haired Syrian hamster) that I adopted from my local shelter.

Information Cailey I. would like to know about your pet

I want to make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible when he or she is under my care, so any information is helpful. Things like: Does your pet have allergies? Does your pet have a sensitive stomach? Do you not want them jumping up on me when I greet them? It can be anything.

A typical day

There are nice trails behind my house so typically if I am near there, I will walk us down to those trails and spend some time out there. Some fun activities I’ve done with dogs I’ve watched include puppy pool parties, lots of fetch, exploring the city, playing in the sprinklers, and puppy photo shoots.
