Animal's Best Friend

Pet care experience

Growing up, my family taught me that in order to be a pet owner, you needed to have a sense of responsibility. Before my family got our first dog, my parents made sure that all of us understood that we are accountable for our pets and we have to give them the best life because they will become a part of the family. My love of animals grew from the day we picked up our first dog. From taking him out on walks, to playing with him and feeding him, I began to understand why responsibility was so important because our pets would express their happiness. As I got older, I saw other owners seeking help because they weren’t always able to spend time with their pets due to work, family commitments and vacations. That’s when I decided to become a dog walker. From that experience, my knowledge broadened on the different breeds, temperaments and needs of dogs. I even took care of cats, birds and other animals to see what it was like. I have experience with animals who will run right up to me and want to play, others who are more shy and some who have been extremely aggressive. I do whatever I can to make their pet comfortable and trust me. Each family I assisted showed me what their animals needed. I have taken care of puppies (and continued the training the owners were teaching) to animals that had medical needs where I learned how to give medication to dogs. While I was in college, I always made time to go back home and spend time with my pets and even see the other family’s who I help. My sense of responsibility for animals built a foundation that if I am to help someone, I will do whatever I can to keep their pet happy while their owners are away!

Bryan was wonderful with our boys! He sent photos and updates everyday, and made sure they had plenty of exercise and stuck to their routine. I would highly recommend Bryan to care for your pets, and we will definitely be using him again!

Bryan is exactly the type of person you want caring for your home and pets while you’re away. He is trustworthy, honest, charismatic and a huge dog lover. He keeps constant updates. He learned our dogs personalities within hours lol making us feel like he was truly spending genuine time with them. We felt totally comfortable and will be using him again!

Safety, trust & environment

I prefer to keep animals as comfortable as possible for their stay, which is why I choose to keep them in their home. If they are in a familiar environment I see them open up more and aren’t as shy as they could be in a new environment.

Information Bryan M. would like to know about your pet

I have felt with dogs who love to have fun and love to be around you, and I have been around dogs who have been adopted with a very unfortunate past. Their attitudes toward me depend on how their past has been, but no matter what kind of dog, or their experiences they come to understand that I am there for them and their needs. I have had dogs frequently follow me from place-to-place looking to play, and I have had several experiences with dogs who have been very aggressive because they either believe they are the alpha, or their past has hold over them. I do not hold any dog responsible for their actions, I just request that we talk about any conditions that may be hazardous to both the dog and to myself as a sitter.

A typical day

I believe that dog's personalities are not reflected only by their breed, but on how their environment is from the time they became apart of a family. For example, a more outgoing dog requires more attention physically as opposed to a dog which is used to an interior household setting. Approaching a dog is quite simple in making them at ease at first, but when the dog confronts you during a night-time setting, they can become rather protective of their territory because of their family. This can be difficult, but the way in which I go about making the dog comfortable is bringing them everywhere I go, whether it's inside the house, outside, to the kitchen, the more a dog is able to see me and what I am doing begins to make them at ease. Many dogs miss their families after not seeing them for hours up to days, but I will always allow the family to call my cell phone to the house phone and they are welcome to talk to their dog an it will lift up their spirits. The age of the dog is also important because depending on if they're a puppy indicates they require more attention with their surrounding, compared to an older dog who is very used to their home and how to be taken care of. If any dog requires medication, it will always be the first item on my agenda and I will inform you in any way you would like to when that has been done. If you have any further questions on my style for taking care of dogs, please feel free to contact me.
