Former vet tech in nursing school

Pet care experience

Hey everybody, My name is Brooke (my dogs name is Diggins) I am a former vet tech who is now in Nursing School. I live in St Louis Park, right next to Methodist hospital. Incidentally, that is also where I currently work. I work in the ICU. I am loving my new career change but I am missing caring for animals. What better way to rectify that then to do dog walking and boarding?! I’ve had dogs since childhood and would consider myself primarily a “dog person” but really I love all animals. I have years of experience working in a veterinary clinic caring for all kinds of companion animals as well as experience being the manager of a local dog boarding facility all throughout my college years. I am comfortable with dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments! Although I love all dogs, I am partial to herding dogs, pitties, “smush faced” dogs, seniors and small dogs with big personalities. But really I love them all! I would love to meet and get to know your furry family member! Ps: I am a runner and if your dog is a good running partner, I will take them out with me!

Amazing in home care for my sick dog. Brooke is a great help to my dog and I. She helped take care of my dog after surgery and knew exactly what to do. Highly recommend.

Brooke is a fantastic pet and house sitter! She has stayed in our home twice to care for our dog and cat and we will book her again for sure. She is very conscientious and responds quickly and proves updates. We are able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing Brooke is taking care of our pets. Thank you so much Brooke!

Brooke is a wonderful pet sitter. There have been numerous times when I have needed her within a few hrs notice and she is soo enthusiastic and all too happy to come and look after our dog and cat and stay for 3 nights. She is genuine in her love of pets, flexible and capable. I feel so fortunate to have found someone who loves my pets as I do and has a background in petcare. Thank you Brooke

Safety, trust & environment

I do live in an apartment so potty breaks involve going out on a leash. My complex does have a small doggy play area that is great for when our dog friends come over. Otherwise our exercise consists of walks (there is a great little nature trail just behind my complex), runs and dog parks. I am a nature lover so most of my free time is spent outdoors (yes even in our brutal MN winters 😁).

Information Brooke J. would like to know about your pet

I don’t really have any breed preference. I love them all. I will say that I am partial to herding dogs as mine is a herder. But I also really like “bully” breeds, “smush-faces”, senior dogs and small dogs with big personalities.

A typical day

My hours at the hospital do vary. I work both days and evening (but no overnights). Somedays I have mornings and early afternoons off, others I am off in the evening. But it doesn’t matter which shift I work, I always make sure that my dog (and yours) gets adequate exercise and stimulation. I’ll run with your dog if they are good running partners, take them to parks or even just let them join on errands that I have to run l!

I work in the ICU at Methodist hospital so, days can be long but since I live right next to the hospital, I can walk home on breaks to let pups out. 4 hours is probably the longest a house guest might have to go without a bathroom break. Other than work, I am in school again but it’s all online so days off are mostly spent at home on the computer and doing chores.
