Pre-Vet Student and Animal Lover

Pet care experience

ABOUT ME I'm a lifelong dog owner and animal lover. I'll be pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, and I'm currently attending Western Michigan University for a degree in behavioral psychology while I complete my prerequisite courses for a veterinary program. I also work part-time at Bronson as a medical scribe in the emergency department. I enjoy being active, especially running and hiking, but I'm also a big fan of Netflix. That being said, nothing makes me smile more than happy animals, which is why your dog will be treated like family! SAFETY FIRST I subscribe to Rover's Protection Package, which helps keep your dog safe while you're away. In addition to Rover's premium insurance, this package provides a safety tag for your dog and 24/7 access to Ask a Vet during the stay in case your dog experiences any medical problems. PHOTO UPDATE GUARANTEE I solemnly swear to send you pictures throughout the stay! Pets are family, and nothing puts a pet parent's mind to ease like seeing that their favorite four-legged kids are happy and healthy when they're away. EXPERIENCE WITH DOGS Currently, I'm assisting with research regarding stress levels in shelter dogs at Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement, which has honed my ability to handle even large, rambunctious dogs well - and clean up after them. I have also received some training in positive reinforcement/operant conditioning at Western Michigan University. I have experience watching and handling dogs of many sizes and temperaments, from a relaxed West Highland White Terrier to a high-energy English Mastiff; I also have experience with puppies (around 3 months and up) and senior dogs. If your dog has any special needs, feel free to let me know and I can let you know whether or not I'm comfortable working with them. Chances are I'll say yes! OTHER ANIMALS I'm also happy to help out with any other pets you may have - I've personally owned cats, fish, and a turtle. Depending on how many additional pets will need care during the stay, your rate may be adjusted slightly.

Brook has stayed in our house and kept our dog company a few times. I feel confident that Teek is in good hands. She is attentive to the dogs normal schedule and is competent at handling a reactive dog. Our dog is always happy and relaxed when we get home. Thanks Brook!

I highly recommend Brook for all your dog care needs! Brook was extremely professional and thorough right from the beginning of our communication, replying quickly to my messages and learning as much as she could about my 2 dogs prior to her stay to ensure she would provide them the best care. I was a little nervous using a petsitter at first and trusting someone in our home with our pets, but after our meet and greet with Brook and seeing how much she loved dogs, I felt at ease that she would do a great job in caring for them. And she did! I could tell by her daily picture updates and check ins that they were so happy and were really enjoying spending time playing, snuggling and walking with her! It was nice knowing that they were able to stay in their own home and wouldn't be alone at night or have to go to a kennel during our vacation. I really appreciated the information sheet she had us fill out that provided her with important details about each dog and emergency info that she could keep handy. If you are looking for someone to love and treat you fur babies like their own, then Brook is who you should call! We will definitely be contacting her again for any future care needs! Suzanne N.

Brook is the first Rover sitter I have had that asked us to fill out a questionnaire about our dog, our preferences and routines, and vet information. I think this is wonderful and so responsible. It showed that she cared about the well-being of the dog and keeping life consistent while we were away. After the first day and update text from her I knew we could fully trust our dog was in good hands. Our dog is reactive on-leash, but she handled it very well. I recommend Brook and I will book with her again!

What makes a dog happy? Is it someone who will throw a ball for hours? Someone who will take them on walks for as long as they want? Someone who loves to give them a million belly rubs? Perhaps it's someone who will just sit with them rub their head until they fall asleep and then just keep going. If you ask what makes a dog happy, your best answer would be Brook. Time and time again she walks my dog and plays with him until his heart is content. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my boy. Brook is mature, has a special place in her heart for all dogs and will never let you down.
