Patient and Caring Dog Lover

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Brittany and my best friend is a Carolina dog mix who I have many nicknames for but she is formally known as Brooke. Telling you about Brooke's past will help you understand how I am as a dog mom and how I may be able to benefit your dog. I found Brooke at a humane society in Brookfield. I didn't see her behind glass or a chain linked barrier, I saw a picture of her hanging on the wall. The picture said that she was in back and that I would need to speak to someone in order to view her. I was informed by the staff that Brooke was a bit of a mascot for their establishment because she had been there for so long. Brooke had spent over a year at this humane society with a few families adopting her and then bringing her back shortly after. Feeling a little heart broken about her story I was still eager to meet her. It was love at first meet! Within that week I was taking Brooke home. Brooke had personality traits that were not talked about when adopting her. At first I thought this was an adjustment period, she was after all an adult dog (three/four years old) and had spent at least a year of her life being continually surendered. Brooke was afraid of everything. She would react to runners, bicyclers, skateboarders, people casually walking, children, motorcycles, semi trucks/garbage trucks...I think you get the picture. I had adopted a dog who has a reactivity issue; Brooke would lunge, bark and snap at these triggers every time we came across them. This made walks almost impossible since I live right next to a very popular park and trail. I felt defeated, I felt like I couldn't give Brooke everything she needed to have a happy and healthy life but I refused to give up on her. We were confined to walking really late at night, a time where running into her triggers were slim. We worked hard together to learn commands when seeing a trigger or evasion techniques. Today, Brooke still is reactive but she is able to control her reactivity and keep her focus on me. She isn't cured but we learned how to cope and we learned together what her safe space is. We still enjoy walking our nightly walks but we have been able to take her on those very special day time walks. This long story is for those out there who are looking for a dog walker with patience and understanding. I promise to take care of your dog as I do mine. I ensure that walk time is her time, not mine. This long story is also for those who may also have a reactive dog. I would love to take your reactive pup out for a walk. I understand importance of physical stimulation for dogs and would love to help your dog enjoy all aspects of life! I am sure that I would need to meet with you and your dog a few times to familiarize myself with them and then take it from there! *I am not a reactive dog trainer, just a reactive dog owner who understands how difficult it can be to find time in the day for a nice, calm walk

We are incredibly happy with Brittany. She was responsive throughout the day ensuring we had all of our bases covered. She kept us updated with pictures and notes on our dogs well-being during her visit. We were able to book her last minute which was a huge plus due to our spontaneous schedule. In summary, we highly recommend Brittany. Our dog has a lot of anxiety when we leave outside of her regular schedule, but she was very content when we returned. 10/10!

Brittany will do great for Rover being a long time animal care taker. She is invested in helping animals, and is interested in getting to work with more dogs. I think Rover will be a great opportunity for her to work with dogs of varing backgrounds and needs.

I truly believe Brittany Taylor will make a great dog sitter for Rover. Not only is she loving and caring as a person, but she shows it to everyone and everything around her. She will treat your animal as though it were her own. She has a very calming aura and doesn't possess a mean bone in her body. She's very responsible and it's extremely important for her to make note of any special needs, allergies, etc. that the pet she cares for is met. She will not disappointment. If she could own all the animals and plants (I might add lol) in the world she would! She will be a perfect fit for Rover! :)

Brittany has always been an avid animal lover and the compassion she brings when she’s helping us dog parents out truly shows! We have one high needs dog that when going on walks needs someone to keep an extra eye out for “new” environment, Brittany has always been very accommodating for Pongo’s needs. Always very reliable, even with last min dog sitting or walking needs.
