In need of some furry friends.

Pet care experience

My name is Brittany and I have been a pet owner (up until recently), my whole life. I can't remember a time when we didn't have some sort of animal. I was lucky enough to grow up with furry friends and can't wait until I can have one of my own again. We got our first dog when I was in Grade 2 or 3, his name was Oreo and he was a border Collie. Having him to grow up with gave us hours of fun. He would play hide and seek with us, soccer, and heard our chickens. His best friend was my cat, Puggy. We taught Oreo many tricks and took him on many walks. On top of a dog, two cats and some chickens, we also had a hobby farm with some cows, sheep, a goat, and a horse. Of course at the time I hated chores but looking back I realize how lucky I was to have the experience of growing up with, and caring for these animals. In my early 20s, I moved in with a friend (a current member of rover) and her young puppy Lando. He is probably my favorite little pooch, a blue heeler chihuahua, try wrapping your head around that one! Anyways, I lived with them for a year or so, teaching him tricks and taking him for walks and, of course, dog sitting when my room mate wasn't available. There have been many times over the years that I have taken care of friends pups and worked on their leash skills and other tricks. I seem to gravitate to animals when they are near and I pride myself on the way I can seem to get them to trust me. My friend had a pit bull/ lab mix of some sort. His name was Ottis and he had a problem with women. I think he had been abused. I spent a lot of time with him. After our first run in together, I worked with him over the coming months, taking him on walks and never pushing myself on him, but also establishing authority by commanding him to do tricks and listen to me. I believe that is what gained his trust and in the matter of a few months he went from snapping at women to crawling on top of me for a cuddle. I remember the first time he let me pet him, and it was a truly special moment. The last couple months I spent with my dads shiba inu, Shylo, and his burnese/ st bernard mix, Duke. He is a big, 3 year old, very needy, puppy. I house sat a few times for them, which involved taking care of the chickens, horses, cows and dogs. I am not claiming by any means to be a dog trainer, but I am confident in my ability to connect with your dog and build a trust with both of you. On top of those experiences, I have house/ per sat for numerous friends/ neighbours over the years. I am not in the position to have my own dogs at the moment, but I am really in need of some furry friends. I would love to get exercise and make sure your dog gets some as well. Thank you for reading and considering my profile and I hope to meet you soon. :)

Brittany has watched my Pitbull as well as my ferret on many occasions. She is loving with the animals and I always know they are cared for when she is there.

Brittany is the absolute best with our very grumpy dog. She is the only one outside my family that my dog likes & who I trust our dog to be alone with. She has a way with him that even the "dog people" I know can't compete with. We used to have to kennel the dog every time we went out of town but now we have Brittany! I recommend her to anyone. She will take very good care of your fur baby.

Hello, I am writing to you regarding Brittany M. as a dog caregiver. I have had Brittany take care of my two dogs many times. One is a big Bermese Mountain dog who is quite young and full of energy. The other is a small Shiba Inu who is lovely on her own however, doesn't always play well with other dogs. Brittany has been very loving and patient with both of my dogs. She made sure they both were fed and taken for walks. Her patient nature was very calming for my dogs and they love playing with Brittany and their toys. I would recommend Brittany to anyone looking for a dog caregiver as she is very responsible and reliable. My dogs love it every time she takes care of them.

Information Brittany M. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if they have an behavioural issues. If they are leash trained. What sort of special instructions I might need for medications, feeding times. I don't habe any breed preferences. But if you have a large dog I expect it to be leash trained and aware of any triggers they might have.

A typical day

I will take them for walks, make sure they have play time and cuddles if they need.
