Hi there, my name is Brittany! After a short hiatus in Kentucky, I am back in action in the great state of Texas. I would love nothing more than to be trusted with your fur babies while you are away. As an overprotective pet parent myself, being given the responsibility and honor of caring for your pets is something that I do not take lightly. I am lucky to have a flexible career which makes planning your dog's stay with me a breeze. I work from home on a semi-secluded, 11 acre slice of heaven located on the Katy/Fulshear line. In addition, I help manage and run the horse farm and I rehab and retrain off the track thoroughbred racehorses in my spare time. I control my own schedule, so I am able to be flexible throughout the day for potty breaks, walks, cuddles and treats! I have years of experience working with timid and nervous animals, elderly animals, animals with anxiety, fear aggression, special allergies and dietary needs. My extensive knowledge and love for animals started at a young age; horses and dogs have been a staple in my life since before I could walk. My education furthered when I attended Texas A&M University and completed a pre-vet degree in Animal Science. Though life took me down other avenues with passions outside of the veterinary medicine field, my time spent inside and outside of the classroom has armed me with valuable knowledge to help me care for your pets. With my wide range of experience, I am comfortable with all different kinds and sizes of animals. I welcome all animals with open arms. No one will be turned down based on breed or size alone. I know how to identify unwanted behaviors and redirect them quickly. I am also up to date on my Pet CPR and First Aid certifications. I own a Border Collie mix named Indy, who I rescued from a high kill shelter. I adopted her after learning that she was going to be a hard adoption case due to enduring a very abusive past. After months of patience and retraining, Indy is now a certified therapy dog who knows just about every trick and skill you can think of. She has turned into a super rambunctious and playful dog, so I am comfortable with your higher energy pets as well. Indy would love another playmate! I taught Indy everything that she knows all by myself. That being said, I am comfortable helping to enforce the obedience commands and practices you have in place at home, so that your dogs do not regress in their training while you are away. My ultimate goal is to make sure that your furchildren have a positive experience while you are away. After all, this should be a vacation for them, too! My pets are my children and that's how I treat them and how I will treat yours, too! My goal is to create the type of environment that I would want Indy to be in if I were traveling. This means that I put a huge amount of emphasis on daily exercise, interactive playtime and spoiling your animals rotten with unending love and socialization. This ensures that they get the attention they need to remain relaxed and happy. Part of making sure your animals have an enjoyable experience is sticking to the routine that they are accustomed to. I will follow and enforce any rules, schedules and routines that you leave me with. Rest assured that your animals will be looked after and cared for like they are one of my own! I keep communication wide open so that you have peace of mind knowing your four legged family member is in a safe, loving environment while you are away. Some owners prefer not to be bothered on their vacation unless it’s an emergency. But other owners want to see how much fun their pets are having! So if requested, expect pictures and general updates of your beloved pet enjoying themselves here in doggy paradise! Because of the love I have for many of my clients and their furkids, I feel like they are family and that is EXACTLY how they will be treated. **:DOG BOARDING INFO:** Drop off and pick up hours: 6:00am-6:00pm daily Drop off and Pick up: - Please note that we do not operate ‘on demand’ for drop offs and pick ups. Our drop offs and pick ups are by appointment ONLY. When inquiring about booking, Rover will ask you to select your preferred drop off and pick up times. We do not allow “ranges” for drop off and pick up. You must select an exact time (Ex: 7:00am). There are a few reasons why we do this: 1.) An exact drop off and pick up time is needed to accurately price the day. 2.) An exact drop off and pick up time is needed so that our day can run as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. We often do not like to be in the middle of a task when owners arrive, so we kindly ask for an exact time so that we can plan our other chores around your arrival. 3.) An exact drop off and pick up time is needed for us to program our gated entrance with the time sensitive guest user code for you to use to get in when you arrive at the farm. - We are sensitive and sympathetic to travel delays for pick up. We are always willing to work with an owner provided that they stay in constant communication along the way. All we ask is that you communicate those changes with us as soon as possible so that we can adjust the stay so that the pricing reflects the unfortunate delay and so that we can figure out a new pick up time that works for the both of us. Please do note that if your travel delays will have you arriving outside of our daily drop off and pick up hours, another night of boarding will be charged and we will re-schedule pick up for the following day. Farm entrance: - Once you book your pups stay and we discuss drop off and pick up times, I will issue you a temporary guest user code that will work to get you in and out of the main gates of the farm. This temporary guest user code only stays active for 20 minutes at a time (it works for 10 minutes before the programmed time and for 10 minutes after the programmed time). This means that your promptness is extra important because if you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your guest user code will no longer be active and the gate will not successfully open for you and you will not be able to get in. Drop off and pick up day: - Drop off day and pick up day interactions will remain strictly outside. No pet owners will be allowed inside of my home on either of these days. This is to help with dog stress levels so they don’t have to watch you leave and so your smell is no where inside the home. Dogs settle down quicker when their owners scent is not lingering all over the house. - Please arrive with your pets leashed as that makes the handoff infinitely less complicated. Vaccination requirements: - We will require all pets coming into our care to show proof of vaccination status. Listed below are the vaccines that we require to board with us: - Rabies - DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) - Canine influenza - Bordetella - We also require all of our guests to be on a monthly flea and tick medication. We will ask which medication your pet uses and when it was last administered. Rabies and DHPP are good for 1-3 years depending on the type given. Canine influenza is good for 1 year. Bordetella is good for 6 months. If you arrive at drop off and your pets vaccination records indicate that they are expired and overdue for any of these, we will cancel the stay and you will only be refunded the amount that coincides with our clearly stated cancellation policy. DOG BOARDING PERSONAL ITEM CHECKLIST: Below is a check list of things to bring with your dogs for their stay: - A copy of their vaccination records. Records need to show that all dogs are up to date on their vaccines and all vaccines must cover them through the last date of their stay. - Collar/harness and leash - Food for the duration of their stay. Meals do not need to be portioned out, but clear feeding instructions should be included. PLEASE NOTE: due to limited storage space, we will not feed a raw diet while dogs are in our care. We will feed kibble based food, wet/canned food, and food that can be safely kept fresh in the refrigerator for the entirety of the pets stay. - Dog bowls - Medications and supplements. Make sure that all medication is clearly labeled with the exact time of day each pill needs to be given, the frequency it is to be given and how they take it. If your dog takes their pill in a special way (with cheese, peanut butter, pill pocket, etc.), please be sure to provide that as well as we might not have that on hand already. - Their personal crates - Treats - Favorite toys, bones or ‘lovies’ - Favorite dog bed or blanket - Please note: we do not allow dogs to play with their collars on as this is a strangulation risk. If you would like to have your dog’s collar on 24/7 for the duration of your trip, you MUST send them with a proper breakaway collar. All other regular leather or nylon collars will be taken off to avoid this catastrophic risk. - While staying in my home, pets MUST be okay being crated or separated into a different room via a doggy gate. We work from home and are home a majority of the day, but we do NOT market our business as ‘at home 24/7’. We step out for everyday routine appointments and errands like all other normal people. When we leave for these appointments and errands, we do not allow dogs to free roam the home when unattended - they must be crated or safely gated into a smaller dog proof area. I have a responsibility to keep your pet safe while under my care. By providing a safe space for your animals to go while left unattended we can make sure that: playtime doesn’t get out of hand, no one gets injured or hurt while unattended, no one gets into anything that could be not only destructive but harmful to themselves, and to eliminate puppies or male dogs from inappropriately marking the territory with their scent. Please note that if you request for your dog to be left behind a gate and your dog begins to show destructive tendencies in our gated area while we are away, we will have to begin crating them. If your dogs are not crate trained and you feel like your dog may hurt themselves with this scenario, pet boarding with me may not be the right fit. Dogs are also closely monitored via video and audio feed from an app connected directly to my phone whenever I am not home, that way I always have a set of eyes on them at all times! All that being said, we keep our time away from home as brief as possible and your furry friends are never left home unattended for longer than 3 hours at a time. - It is also important to note that I do live in a barndominium style home. Meaning, our inside living quarters are located through the barn, on the second story that sits over our horse stalls and aisle way.
