Looking for cool dogs to hike with

Pet care experience

There are three humans and two medium-small dogs in our household. Our parenting style is laid-back, our pets are allowed on the furniture with us. We all absolutely adore dogs, and spoil ours rotten. There is almost always one of the humans in the house and available for cuddles or potty breaks at all times due to our varying schedules. We have a large, fenced yard for the dogs to run around in, but regularly take our dogs both out into the neighborhood and on longer walks in nature areas. I am very comfortable with handling more than one dog at once. I am a student at PSU. I commute via car, and attend school in the morning every day of the week from 9-noon. I head home after class to take care of our dogs and do homework. I have a significant amount of time to spend taking the dogs outside. I am trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis, and am familiar with dog training concepts. I am trained in [human] first aid and CPR and can take action in a time of crisis. I feel comfortable with dogs of all breeds and sizes, but would like to know if a dog has any unique behaviors that could be problematic with a new handler. I can;t wait to meet all of your furry friends!

I have witnessed Brittany on several occasions hanging out with her dog, Sofie. She was nothing short of an amazing dog-mom. Very attentive to all of Sofie's needs and wants, Brittany would cater to Sofie's needs when needed. Sofie and Brittany share a strong bond with one another - and am sure Brittany will share the same love and compassion with any other dog. Brittany has a very visible love and admiration for all dogs.

Information Brittany D. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if the dog has a particular routine that they are acclimated to. Due to the fact that I am a student, there would be a three hour block in the mornings where the dog would be alone. If this would be detrimental in any way or cause significant stress to the dog, I would not want to offer to sit for that specific dog. I would also like to know if the dog has any behaviors that may arise when meeting a new person, dogs, or when experiencing a new environment.

A typical day

I LOVE to go outside on hikes/walks. We would explore the urban forests and park areas of Portland. I live close to Mount Tabor, so if a dog is comfortable with other dogs, there is a wonderful, enclosed dog park that they would be able to run around at off-leash. If they are less comfortable with other dogs or being off-leash, then I would likely walk them on the trails of Tabor. Powell Butte is another lovely option for long, outdoor, leashed-walks.
