From childhood, dogs have been a key component to my daily life, and essential to my overall happiness. In addition to knowing the importance of a proper feeding and walking schedule, I possess a deep inclination towards their emotional needs and desires, and am able to fulfill those needs through a healthy, mutually beneficial relationship. I grew up with a Toy Poodle, whom we adopted as a puppy, and helped train and care for him for 13 years. He was incredibly smart, relentlessly cute, surprisingly athletic, and the best friend I ever had. The bond we'd grown together will stay with me for my entire life. As a young adult, my boyfriend and I adopted a 1.5 year old Siberian Husky/Catahoula mix. She had bounced around from home to home as a puppy, but always ended up back at the shelter because new owners couldn't keep up with her high energy levels. Aside from being absolutely in love with her and feeling deeply attached and connected to her, I felt a strong sense of responsibility towards giving her the stability she deserved in her life. After research, practice, and lots of patience, we developed a fitting routine and lifestyle that matched her playful, energetic personality. I'm finishing my BA degree in NYC, and have left my Husky/Catahoula, Lexi, in New Hampshire with her dad. Needless to say, I feel incomplete without her, and would love the opportunity to create new relationships with dogs that need sitters/walkers here in the city. I am confident that I'll be able to provide for and nurture any dog that I am matched up with.
