Professional Dog Trainer

Pet care experience

Hi all! I'm Brittany and I've been a dog trainer since 2013. I have taught obedience classes at several PetCo locations, at private facilities, and facilitated several in-home sessions. I have experience with all breeds and am familiar with all of the needs of each breed. I have conducted Canine Good Citizen classes and I choose to practice good manners with the pups. I believe in positive reinforcement and will ensure adequate physical exercise and mental stimulation. I've attended training conferences to learn updated methods from the world's top animal behaviorists. I currently work a lot with local groups to assist with dog sporting events. I also work with local vets providing relief for pups through current medical advancements. Feel free to reach out with any questions! I look forward to meeting you! I have another trainer help on many occasions. He is my husband, Michael, and he helps me as needed. You may see him during drop offs, pick ups, and meets. The pups absolutely love him and you will too! Talk to me about adding training sessions to your pup’s stay! We can work on basic obedience including sit, down, wait, stay, leave-it, and leash walking. We’re also able to work on leash reactivity. Sessions are an hour each and cost $62 per session. We also offer board and train programs, but those require a free assessment first. Check out my Facebook page for more information on what we’re doing, videos, pictures, training advice, etc. @DogGenius BOARDING REQUIREMENTS: 1. ALL PUPS MUST BE CRATE TRAINED 2. ALL PUPS MUST BRING THEIR OWN CRATE 3. ALL PUPS WILL BE TEMPERAMENT TESTED DURING THEIR FIRST VISIT 4. PICK UP AND DROP OFF TIMES MUST BE SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE

My anxious pup has had a few staycations at Brittany's place! My dog is a very special girl with many nervous quirks and Brittany works through those with her with patience! She has even made some doggy friends which is always a nice surprise!

I’m very selective about who I leave my pup with, but I knew from the start that Brittany would take the best care of my girl! Brittany was very accommodating and communicative the entire time. My girl came back happier than any other time she’s boarded. I will definitely be using Brittany’s services again! Thank you so much Brittany!

Our dog had an amazing week-long stay and didn’t want to come home! We liked that Brittany has a structured schedule for the pups and that she’s a proponent of positive reinforcement training. Would recommend her in a heartbeat and will definitely be booking with her again!

Safety, trust & environment

All dogs must be crate trained and bring their own crate. We will assess your dog during the meet and greet. We will not do dog introductions during meets, but it will give your dog time to familiarize themselves with the place and allow us time to talk about their care/our routine. We have a large fenced in yard and dogs are always supervised in the yard and during play. The inside is gated off to separate the bedrooms so nobody is unattended. They will sleep in my office next to our bedroom, hence why I require them to be comfortable in a crate. The dogs have a blast and we have rules during play time to keep everyone safe and happy. Positive reinforcement is used to help us maintain control of the group.

Our requirements include being up to date on shots, fixed, some experience with group play, and able to sleep comfortably in their own crate. We like to make pick up and drop off as easy as possible for your dog, so please say goodbye before you drop them off. The initial drop off can be a little worrisome for your dog, so we try to have an easy transition. Also, since we’re so busy during the day, make sure to schedule times beforehand. Text when you’re headed our way. This gives us time to settle everything down and makes for less chaos and less wait time. Feel free to ask any questions!

A typical day

Day camp is included in the boarding service. We have play groups all day. In the summer, the dogs have several pools to play in. We have an agility course out sometimes during play groups to provide a fun environment for them to run around in. We are constantly in training mode, so we may work your dog in a training session to get them extra tired. We don’t usually do walks due to the amount of exercise they already get, but I may pick one to join me for a nice neighborhood walk. You’ll receive daily pictures and updates. The dogs tend to get dirty in the yard. Sometimes you’ll be able to see exactly how much fun they had! :) I offer an exit bath, so just let me know if you would like to add that to your service!

Availability

I’m a full time dog trainer and work from home, so I’m always hanging out with the dogs. We have a full day routine. We’re up early, everyone potties, we eat breakfast, then we play! Play groups will alternate between play and rest all day until dinner. The pups get many more play times than facilities. If your dog hasn’t been stimulated enough during play time, we will work on training, brain games, or have some individualized play. Dinner is around 6p and we will have a little play after, followed by some inside cozy time with the humans. The last potty time is right before everyone goes to bed.
