🐈‍⬛ Cats and High-Anxiety Dogs🐺

Pet care experience

I'm a very experienced Rover sitter who has particular love for pets who require a little extra care and attention, whether due to shyness or nervousness, medical needs, or special housing requirements (such as terrariums or aquariums). A lot of my services are geared toward cats, working breeds of dogs (all types, but especially Northern breeds such as Siberian Huskies, who are liable to need a little extra care managing their stress levels when their owners are away), canine playgroups, small birds/herptiles/mammals, and more! Over the years, my focus on specialized pet daycare and enrichment activities has given me a special soft spot for pets who are a bit extra sensitive, have fear issues or separation anxiety syndrome, and sometimes need continuous or extended care. I'm a good choice for clients with multi-pet households or those who have detailed medication or feeding routines. My life revolves around my pets and I still regularly host a small number of Huskies for "doggie daycare." I am currently accepting some additional clients of all species for drop ins, walks, and overnight stays (at your home). All bookings are case-by-case and will be dependent on if I feel my schedule will allow me to properly meet your pets' needs - something we will figure out when we have a chance to discuss your situation in more depth. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to discuss having me care for your pets! Overnight stays: (Cats, dogs, small pets) Each overnight stay is case by case. I almost always can offer weekends, when I know I can stay at home with your pets and give them plenty of uninterrupted company! However, I can often also take weekday reservations: - if your pet is fine with being left alone during the day (with a midday visit) - Friendly dogs may have the option of coming with me to my house for "daycare" to hang out and very calmly play with up to four very sweet huskies. This option is only for dogs who have never displayed any aggression issues toward other dogs. Daily Drop-ins: (Cats, dogs, small pets) Both repeat visits and occasional visits are welcome! These include feeding, cleaning, playtime, walks or exercise, and just company for your pet. - I previously took daycare and boarding clients from my home in California, where we had a number of amazing four-legged guests visit us for daycare and boarding each day! - My meet and greets are usually done during weekday evenings and take around 15-30 minutes. I usually recommend booking 6-8 weeks in advance as possible to ensure availability. Cancellation policies vary depending on the service booked, so please make sure you read the individual terms before booking! You can learn more about me, and see some of my amazing furry clients, by browsing my profile or following us on Instagram @howlaboutit. This is my full time work and I'm devoted to pets (and species) who have a manageable range of behavioral problems, special feeding, medical, and other care needs. My schedule offers extra availability to clients and I'm usually very able to work with medicine/feeding schedules. I have a special place in my heart for pets who are sensitive, nervous, or get stressed easily when their owners leave town and am happy to follow any set routines to work within your pet's individual comfort threshholds and allow them to stay as comfortable as possible.that might make your pets feel more comfortable.

Brit is unbelievably wonderful - in her kindness, courtesy, respect, skill, and knowledge… all wrapped up in the incredible care she provides for our pup whenever we need to be away. Thank you, Brit!

We are always so grateful to Brit for the exceptional care and attention she extends toward our little pup and can’t help but feel that, on each and every visit, she goes above and beyond! Moreover, Brit’s communication with us while we’re out is similarly above and beyond! She is not only kind, respectful, and thorough but is insightful and proactive in her observations and regarding any issues which may arise in the course of her care of our pup… and always so wonderfully descriptive and entertaining, even, in her messages with us! We can’t thank Brit enough!

As usual, Brit has been exceptional in her care of our pup and in her communication with us, as well! And even though our little dog has unexpectedly needed to wear a cone this past week and take antibiotics, Brit managed her care without the slightest hesitation! Brit is amazing and, as always, we can’t thank her enough!

Safety, trust & environment

My ultimate goal as a petsitter is to keep your pet as physically and mentally healthy as possible while you are away. As someone who's worked a lot with high energy breeds, I believe mental stimulation is just as important as keeping your pets physically active. When pets age, develop medical conditions, or have behavior issues to overcome, that balance with mental stimulation becomes even more crucial. I never take with a pet's safety or imposing extra stress on them, and this is expressed in so many forms, especially when pets feel a little extra vulnerable while their owners are away!

Information Brit G. would like to know about your pet

I love all pets, but I have specific experience working with cats, Siberian Huskies, and small exotic pets who are often misunderstood or difficult to find specialized care for. Anything extra you can tell me about your pet's quirks, likes, restrictions, or fears, will help me make them feel that much more comfortable while in my care. I will also need your veterinarian name/address/phone number and a copy of your house key (when applicable) which can be provided during the meet and greet, or picked up at a later time for a small fee. Let me know what I can do to make sure your pet's vacation playdate is a great one!

A typical day

I will discuss your pet's needs and care plan during our meet-and-greet. It's important to me to be able to do at least a few different activities that your pets can enjoy to be able to keep them engaged, happy, and tired. These activities vary widely by the pet's confidence levels and their comfort with people in general, especially during the sensitive time period where their owners are out of town. I have a special love for finding avenues to lower the stress and build the confidence of more shy or nervous pets, and sometimes we have to get inventive for this! For pets that are more confident socially, we can get to more interactive enrichment that can give them a chance to not only burn energy, but negotiate small challenges and puzzles as well. I love using enrichment to communicate and encourage confidence in pets. Of course some pets aren't as outgoing, have some social issues, or just have more laid back personalities in general. If you have a homebody who would prefer to stay at home and snuggle on the couch or with a special stuffed Kong toy, that's good, too! Some pets are nervous and need extra time just to adjust to having a new person around the house. I put safety above all else and completely respect owners' requests to keep routines as calm and lowkey as possible to minimize stress. With your approval I can take dogs on trips to parks or trails with my very friendly dog, as well.

My life is constantly about petcare and in many areas can overlap - for example, if you have a dog who enjoys the company of other dogs, I'll gladly take them for outings with one of my very dog-friendly pups. Similarly, I encourage clients who need extra care or prefer human-only companionship to book with me on weekends, when I can dedicate a majority of my schedule to staying at your home with your pets. I stay updated in friend groups with pet enthusiasts of all kinds, and am always looking to incorporate new activities, strategies, and approaching to training and pet care into my life.
