Pet care experience

I have been pet sitting for two years, and have 5+ years of experience caring for pets via my own, and volunteer work. I am highly experienced with cats! As a long-time volunteer of two cat rescues I have worked with many dozens of cats with varying personalities. I have served pet parents since early 2022 for a variety of cats including singles, multiples, kittens, and seniors.

I just love having Bridget take care of my fur babies. She does the litters and food as required but it's the way she plays with my four kitties that I love!!! The photos I receive are great. I love seeing my babies playing and happy and I know I can relax while we are away from the house and that my babies are well taken care of

Bridget did an amazing job! I have two cats and both of them were so happy with Bridget. Bridget sent me photos, videos and updates every visit and truly cared for my cats entire well being :). One of my cats is often very very shy but Bridget’s ability to connect with them was perfect! Thank you Bridget! :)

Safety, trust & environment

Enrichment is a prime concern during visits. While I will always take care of their feeding and litter, emotionally engaging with the pet is what I consider the most impactful to gaining trust and building a relationship with the them. As their owner is away, and cats are creatures of habit, I understand that tending to their emotional needs and companionship will be what creates a happy cat during my stay. I have experience caring for including my own dog (a Maltese) I had since he was a puppy until his passing due to diabetes at 8 years old. I am a current volunteer with two cat rescues, one being a neonatal and kitten nursery, the other for adult rescued cats. I am also an adoption counselor for one of the rescues and I have many months experience processing applications and educating on behavioral, feeding, and care issues. I have been a volunteer in animal rescue since 2019. I welcome any questions you may have about my professional experience and/or getting to know me as a person. Your pet’s safety and well-being is my top priority and I like to foster a relationship with mutual trust and open communication!

Information Bridget L. would like to know about your pet

I think it is helpful to know about the pet's personality ahead of time; their interests, likes/dislikes, and any existing health conditions. Also, an emergency contact and preferred veterinarian (regular vet and/or emergency 24 hr animal hospital). I have experience administering oral medication via mixing it in with food, or via a pill pocket treat. I have experience with eye and ear drops, and topical meds, as well. I have limited experience with administering injectable medication; I administered it twice daily to my past diabetic dog for insulin, but due to his anxiety we needed another person in the household to hold him while I administered.

A typical day

A typical day of pet care would involve ensuring the pet is fed properly, having good water intake, housekeeping a cleanly environment, and watching for any changes in behavior that would indicate something may be wrong health-wise. I like to maintain the pet’s coat with regular brushing (if tolerated) and create an enriching environment by talking to them and playing with their preferred toys.

I am an incoming medical student this year (got into CUSM in San Bernardino!) and hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology. However I will not be moving away from the area until mid July 2024. Pet sitting is something I genuinely enjoy as a personal interest :)
