Experienced carer with clinic experience & own car

Pet care experience

I grew up with 6 dogs, all well cared for and loved. I currently have one chihuahua and two cats, but have cared for medium and large dogs over the years as well. I have experience caring for both very young and very old dogs, including those with special needs like medication or severe arthritis and needing to be carried up stairs/onto beds. I can also do basic puppy training like sit, lay down, stay, come, down (teaching big dogs not to jump up on you), and "drop it". My parents are veterinarians so I grew up learning a lot about animal care and spent time working in the clinic. I have experience with dogs, cats, small birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. I have a deep love for animals and am very patient. I accept that getting a little dirty or the occasional scratches are all part of being responsible for them. I'm looking for permanent employment now, so my schedule is nearly entirely open, except Thursday afternoons 2-5pm and drop-in bookings with other pets. Once I have a job my availability and service radius will be reduced, but bookings made beforehand will still be fulfilled. My partner works from home so even when I'm checking on other pups, someone will still be at home to look after your fur baby. If requested, I also have a crate I can briefly leave them in or use for time-outs (they will still be under supervision). I own my own car and don't consume alcohol while boarding or housesitting so if a medical emergency arises I'll be able to take your pet to a veterinarian immediately. In my own home I have a senior chihuahua and two passive cats who keep to themselves when we have a guest. If provoked the cats might hiss but to date have never swiped at a dog (or human for that matter). I live up the street from a football field and forest trails, so I can take your dog on longer walks if needed. Due to our small house, I can only board small and medium breeds, and no puppies. I will consider making an exception and accept breeds larger than a beagle (even if they're still a puppy) if they get along with my own senior citizen- which can be determined at a pre-booking meet & greet. I can also house sit for any breed, age, and size. I'm happy to take large dogs to parks for better exercise and more freedom. Unless you explicitly say they are trained to be off-leash and can be let loose, your animal will always be leashed and under control. I can wash dogs and trim their nails as well if requested.

We booked Briana to watch Cookie for the day very last minute, as both me and my husband had to go in to the office for the day, and are very grateful that she accepted! We had photos of him throughout the day - lush! - and also messages saying that he was ok. We also got his day "report card", which was so cute. Thank you so much, Briana, for looking after out precious dog! :)

Briana was great. She was very thoughtful, conscientious and looked after Luna’s every need. We had regular updates over the weekend and it was nice to see our dog settled. Will use again.

Safety, trust & environment

I live just round the corner from a football field and several forest, so I can take your dog for regular exercise and enrichment up to three times a day. I have a small, semi-fenced front garden, so even if we don't go on long walks, I can easily let your dog out to have a quick potty. The fence has gaps, if your dog is small enough to fit through then they will be kept on a lead to ensure they don't run off.

Home

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog, 1 cat
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Information Briana B. would like to know about your pet

Energy levels, medication/diet requirements, whether they're nervous or friendly, if they're toilet trained and/or continent, and how they are with other dogs. I also need to know if your dog is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and flea/parasite treatments.

A typical day

Depending on your dog's energy levels, I'd start the day with offering food and water and then a potty walk- either a short walk up and down the street or on long walk by the football field or the forest. We'd return and I'd work on some of my own things while keeping an eye on your pet, and would take them out periodically throughout the day. Their energy would determine how long we're out for a walk. If requested, I'll send photos and videos during their stay.
