Love dogs & happy to help w/ yours!

Pet care experience

I have been taking care of my own dogs and dog-sitting for friends & family before moving to Richmond for over 20 years. No dog left in my care will hurt for something to do as I love giving them attention and taking them for walks. I not sure how else to describe it other than I have talent for calming them down when they get wiley and making them feel safe. These days I often dog-sit for my brother's retrievers when he's out of town for work but I've been around all breeds and have no problem getting them to trust me. Know that if you leave your dog in my care, I'll be sure to care for it as my own and it won't want for anything until you return.

Brian was kind enough to (on short notice, I might add!) watch our beloved, special needs Beagle mix, George, while the girlfriend and I were in town for the weekend visiting family. I knew from first contact with Brian that I was dealing with a kind and responsible individual, as his replies were both prompt and professional but also very warm and friendly. Our first introductions went over wonderfully, as Brian and George became acquainted with lots of hugs and dog-kisses. I briefly re-touched on George's needs, who was born with a chronic, congenital anal-megaly deformity. Brian was very understanding and had no problem taking George's unique qualities into consideration. It truly put us at ease. With Brian's assistance in caring for George, we were able to spend time quality with our family for a few days without needing to worry about how our George was being cared for. We were even able to go out and catch a concert at a local dive bar, where my favorite indy underground, East-German, mosh, death punk-a-billy, band "Das Danger Krü" from Hansestadt Rostock was playing!! So, I can definitely recommend Brian for a "parent's night out" as well! Thanks again!!!!

Brian is an awesome pet caregiver. He has taken care of my yellow lab mine numerous times in the past, and she was always treated with love and care. I would highly recommend him to anyone for taking care of their furry family members. 5 stars!

Information Brian B. would like to know about your pet

I've worked with all sorts of breeds, but generally when I'm dealing with a new dog I approach them calmly and let them smell my hand first before petting them so they can take the time to assess I'm a good guy and not a threat. I'd encourage any owner to fill me in on all personality traits I should know about, health/diet concerns, how they relate to other animals, and household rules to observe when caring for the animal (are they allowed on furniture, are treats allowed and if so what kind and when, etc.)

A typical day

I live by the canals where I frequently take my walks and runs. I'm not too far from the dog parks as well and if the owner has no issue with them coming off a leash outside, I'd be happy to take them out there to throw a ball around. Otherwise if a pet is staying with me, I'd make sure they got plenty of attention indoors in the form of petting, playing with their toys, or letting them nap while I read a book or do my chores. You can rest assured that your pet is going to be spoiled!
