Experienced & Committed Caretaker

Pet care experience

Dogs require not only time, energy, and money, but most importantly they require your love and affection. This I've learned growing up with dogs in my home but also in a professional setting. I grew up on a ranch, and now when my parent's go on vacation I look after their property that has dogs, chickens, horses, a bunny, and fish (not to mention all the wildlife that visits)! In the past I have worked at a dog boarding facility, looking after the animals that stay there. I learned a lot about pet safety, how dogs communicate (both to us and with other dogs), as well as how to handle separation anxiety that many dogs get when away from home. Working there showed me the various idiosyncrasies dogs can have. No dog is the same and I'm committed to providing for their individual needs. However, in many ways I also felt limited by the boarding facility's decisions and use of available resources; I frequently felt like I wasn't able to give an adequate quality of care before being instructed to move on to a new task. This is a major reason I transitioned to my own dog care services, so I could implement my own standard of care. I am just one person and I choose to take care of fewer dogs so that I can give each dog under my care the attention they deserve. I also do have experience taking care of cats, reptiles (small to medium sized lizards and snakes), and small animals like rats, mice, or bunnies.

This is the second time Brenna takes care of my cat - Coffee. So glad she was able to help me last minute and since she already knew the drill, it was easy for everyone. Coffee recognized her and it was a better adjustment for him this time around. I highly recommend Brenna, she provided a can of wet food on each visit, kept an eye on the water and dry food levels, and gave Coffee tons of play time, love and brushing sessions

Coffee, my cat was super happy having Bren as his sitter. Thanks Bren! Brenna was always on time and open to communication, she sent me photos and updates of Coffee. Besides providing wet food on her visits, she cleaned the water bowl and refilled the dry food dispenser when necessary. Bren always had time to pet Coffee and give him extra love. The first couple days, Coffee was adjusting by not having me at home and Bren offered me to come to check him out in the afternoon, which definitely helped as it was his first time being alone. Highly recommended and i will def re-book Bren for future visits, if needed it.

I was looking for a responsible Dogsitter to care for my 9 months old Havanese puppy who just had surgery on his front leg 4 weeks ago. I was extremely nervous that my pup might re-injure himself while I am away. I have interviewed at least 8 Dogsitter and Brenna is the perfect match! She is caring, responsible, and flexible. She took very good care of my pup while we were away. I will definitely use her again! 10 stars recommended!!!

I've always had dogs in my life as my steadfast companions and I understand it can take a village. I trade off taking care of my family's or friends' dogs, for them occasionally looking after my dog. When trips or work make you unable to there for your animal, I believe it's less stressful for them to be in a place they are used to with people they know, but I understand from firsthand experience that isn't always possible. This is where Rover comes in, to match up needs with availability and I've used it myself when I've needed someone to look after my pup. My preference is to regularly walk or care for a few dogs that I am able to build trust with - so they are familiar with me and I am able to learn how they communicate their needs. I think that framework allows me to provide the best quality of care. However, I am also available for short term animal care positions and will do my utmost to ensure I provide for your animal's needs.

Information Brenna B. would like to know about your pet

Before you entrust me with your animal, it is important for me to know about their personality and needs. Does your dog get anxiety when you leave them? On walks is your dog leash reactive and need space from other dogs? While information like this is important for me to be aware of, I have experience and am comfortable handling these behaviors.

A typical day

I love the outdoors and would be happy to bring your puppy with me to some of the beautiful sites the bay area has to offer! Let me know your dog's specific needs and I will be happy to accommodate you.

I'm a Mathematics graduate student, taking classes and working on research projects, which makes my schedule somewhat flexible. As a lover of all kinds of animals, this kind of work provides a lot of joy while helping to support my efforts in university.
